if you are interested in the technical side of my work, then I will periodically write such posts.

Ok, I spent the whole day studying "fluid" simulation aka Maya bifrost.

What is the result I got?

  • Finally, I got something acceptable in the new version of Maya.
  • For such simple (relatively) simulations, need to change only 3 parameters from hundreds.
  • Figured out (in theory) how to do something more "dynamic" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But there were some problems:

  • Caching is not working
  • This thing is very time consuming. Changed one parameter - you need to wait ~5 minutes to see the result.
  • Simulation in high resolutions does not work. You can also notice that the "liquid" starts to twitch at the end of the animation.

The last problem is most likely in hardware of my PC. But do not worry the new hardware has already arrived and assembled (at the beginning of next month I will transfer my system there).

How do you think it's worth finishing and rendering this scene?

PS Yes, it's Tracer.

Great idea. Reminds me of dev updates

Loskey

Oh man it's the tracer POV one?
