RadioMaster TX16S pre-release info (Patreon)
Content
Here's some pre-release info about the TX16S that RadioMaster sent me. They say all this info is out there, but the also asked me not to make any videos about it until I have the radio in hand. Well, posting to Patreon isn't a video, right? Some of this stuff is pretty exciting!
HALL versions now include a Touch Panel as standard (also the Hall+TBS MicroTX version). Touch support will be released with OpenTX firmware v2.4. There is a touch test function in OpenTX 2.3.8 in the analogue test screen.
USB charging has an integrated BMS that balances 2s Lipo or Li-ion 3.7v cells (cut off at 4.2v) It also has over current protection and over temp protection. Only Lipo and Li-ion 2 cell batteries with an end charge voltage of 4.2v per cell are permitted to use in the TX16s. Do not charge LiFE or older 3.6v Li-ion cells. Top USB is for data/sim. Bottom USB is for charging. Not sure why they are using separate USB for each, since it means you can't charge while playing. But maybe that's for the best since the measly 500 mA charge rate of a PC USB port wouldn't do much anyway/
The upgraded metal roller will be included with all versions of the TX16s.
TX16S is using standard wire and plugs internally (no ribbons other than the LCD, TP and Main board break out) for improved reliability and service life. OMG this is the best news ever given how much BS trouble the T16 has had with ribbon cables.
