It's Liv again! If you remember, she was the first of 3 NPCs to win a poll some time ago. She actually has some plot relevance, so I worked on her chibi sprites early! Her design has a bunch of smaller elements, but I think I did a good job making it work in chibi form. You can also see her lower body now!
I figured I'd include Alma as well. I don't remember if I ever mentioned it here but this is the same book from as the one in the demo, in the bottom right corner. She's an actual character who will give you hints in certain situations.

Everything went pretty much as planned this month:

I did the art check first, where I went through every graphical asset I had and improved anything I felt required it. There were a few things in particular that had been on my mind for a long time, so it felt good to finally fix these!
Once I was done with that came the incredibly boring task of exporting every single sprite as a png. This stuff was the actual worst, it was time consumming, boring, but still required a certain level of attention throughout the whole process. I hated it.
Then came the incredibly boring task of importing every single of these png sprites into GameMaker. It was just as bad really, but in a different way. Each sprite / set of sprites needs to be named, sorted, have its hitbox and center defined, and more. Nothing excessively complex, it was just mind numbingly tedious. I also noticed various mistakes that required me to go back, fix sprites again and re export them. So yeah, I hated that too!

But, well, it's finally all done now! And It did feel nice to finally reopen the game and to look at the code again. I even got to implement a few of these new sprites as actual in game objects already. As I made a safety save of the whole GameMaker project, I noticed that the last one was from almost exactly a year ago. This means that it has been an entire year of doing nothing but drawing, which is pretty crazy when you think about it. In case you're interested, there were well over 2000 sprites to export/import!

My main next task now is to implement all of these sprites as actual in game objects! I think I'll draw a few more chibis before really getting into it though. Once that's all done, I plan on building the cutscenes. I'm getting there, bit by bit ^^

And that's it for now! I'll reveal more chibis next time. Here is the TODO list:
