God all bad things always happen to me. I'm so freaking down rn, my external hard drive is not working. I get an error "you need to format the disk in drive before you can use it" I dont want to format it. All of my important files are there, my works, PSDs, reference photos, and everything.  I've been trying to recover the files for a couple of days now but all didnt work. Tried using cmd chkdsk /f /r and even tried using third-party softwares, none of them worked. I hate my life.

Im really sorry everyone that it is affecting the flow of my work both commissions and here on patreon.

Tomorrow I'm getting a new monitor and I guess I'll just have to work on everything from scratch.

Are there any free hard drive recover programs out there? What about disk repair? Usually if you right clock it, that'll be one of the options, and it can save you from having to format the hard drive.

Yea I already tried Partition Find and Mount also EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. It didn't work. EaseUS did manage to see a few files but it just suddenly stops scanning. I'm trying it again

I'd say contact the manufacturer, even send it to them and have them try to fix it without them wiping it. That or try another computer. There's ways to dissect a hard drive and get the info that way but you should get a professional to do it.

I know some externals to recover the data I take the hard drive out of the external box, then hook it up directly to my desktop and use a file recovery program that scans the drive, not the partition. FileScavenger seems to work pretty good in these cases for me.

I managed to recover 70% of my files mostly the old ones. Sadly a couple of those recent ones are gone.

I think it would be a good idea to have two external drives to back up everything. That way you still have one out of two drives that works. Also, make sure that your drives are stored in cool and not in humid environment. I am not sure you live in air-conditioned apartment or not. It does help a lot if you have air conditioner. Glad you have 70%--that is much better than having nothing.
