Just a reminder. The show have a lot of symbolism and foreshadowing throughout the show. Some are relevant to the story and some are just cool details. It makes the story better once you get to know the small little detail the put in the show. There is a youtuber called ctrlaltQQ made a 3 part video explaining most of them. Check it out if you can. If you decide to watch or even react to it, watch part one after the first cour (episode 11) and part 2 and 3 after you finish the rest of the show. The video title is 86 Eighty Six - Details, Symbolism Explained!

Those hanged dolls are 'teru teru bozu', a charm to stop the rain. You saw Bocchi and her crew made them before. It's supposed to be a somewhat cute wholesome moment but who knows it could have a double meaning in this particular show, I have no idea.

Episode 9 Shin mentioned to Lena once that he doesn’t remember his family anymore. When the scribbles lifted, he was finally able to remember his brother’s face and voice. The OST that was playing when Shin got back up is called The Answer, would love it if you guys reacted to it with lyrics. Bring some more tissues for the next one.

Raden

Essentially at the end, the group was moving beyond the range of the para-raid and what the Republic has scouted. Lena could hear them at the end but they couldn't hear her as the signal died. The group is now beyond the reach of the Republic

Episode 8 There is revelation that anime hints at. The the earlier episodes we in Annette's office pictures of her suitors that her coworkers posted. When asked her reply was "So I will not forget". What they were getting at was that since Annette had an 86 as best friend that no guy her age would ever marry her. She would either need to settle for a desperate old man or a kid who was too young to know her friendship. This is how deep the racism in San Magnolia ran. Annette's story is sad one.

The part where they are leaving is a little confusing. Not sure if it's intentional but the translation is ambiguous. Like when Raiden says to Lena "Talk to you later, Major. Hope you can do this with the next ones, too", it sounds like he means the next Legion they encounter. I watched this with German subs first and there he says something like "Farewell, Major. Take care of the next ones, too.", making it a little more obvious that he is talking about the next group of 86 that comes after them.

At ep 8 when Annette said "You're just as guilty as me", Carlie pointed out that Lena is not as guilty as Annette and Ange agreed on it. That surely is one way of thinking, but I think Annette made her point in some way, too. Of course there is a huge difference between Annette and Lena regarding (1) the intention to fix the ongoing problem and (2) the power of 'will' to motivate that intention. Having (1) and (2) is surely big one, so being 'Lena-like' would be very hard and maybe recommended. However, at the fundamental level, whatever Lena tries to do and how much she wants to fix the problem, she can not 'BE' the 86. That is not her fault, but she is BORN to be not being 86. I think this is what Annette's remark tries to hit. Doing something wrong intentionally may be not the necessary condition for guiltiness. And also, being born with certain status may be the sufficient condition for guiltiness.

this is one long ass username

Raiden told Lena “hope you can do this with the next ones too" basically saying his farewell to her as it was believed that they are just going to die and everyone also knew that the connection would’ve cut off. They’re so used to fighting and people dying around them that they didn’t bother making it too big of a deal for Lena also partly as to not cause her too much heartache (bad way to go about it, but yeah that’s how they did that lol)

Thanks guys. Are you interested in a Demon Slayer resin statue btw? I need to get rid of one, and happy to donate it to you both for your streaming room? I live in Victoria so can drop it wherever (too big and heavy to post). Let me know.
