The fan service scene is some pretty important set up for the rest of the episode. Anju's scar which contributes to the more mentioned than shown theme not all the 86 are great people. In addition it establishes there's a secret the squad is hiding from Lena because none of them can bring them to tell her. Even Kurena who has a grudge against Lena and a few episodes ago was openly wanting Shin to break her like the previous handlers thinks it would be too painful for Lena to hear to tell her.

I think we should vote for some light hearted and funny romcoms but FULL of fan service for the next poll lmao just to make a fair comparison with the shower scene. If the series is entertaining and funny They probably will enjoy it and we could enjoy their reactions to the cultured content 😂😂

Great reaction! If you freeze frame Anju's back in the shower, you can make out the words White Whore or something similiar, and it looks like is been cut into her back, rather than tatoo'ed.

86-7 You mentioned how well the battle scene was directed with the fireworks and I have to agree. They're actually showing us who got hit by the long range artillery cannon without inserting death scenes in there.

Is there any chance that in the video the top bar could be un-blurred in addition to the bottom bar? Sometimes there are subtitles that I think are on the top bar of the screen but they are unreadable due to the blurring.

Some more 86 symbolism The flowers in Lena's vase are the same color as Daiya and Lecca's hair. As other comments mentioned, Anju is really self conscious about the brand on her back. In past episodes when talking about other people and her treatment before the shot is often on her back/hair. Key reminder: only the Alba military knows about the 86 being sacrificed. The general public is ignorant and told the Juggernauts are "AI drones". Most of the people don't even know what the cost of keeping them safe really is.

(No spoilers, all covered in episode 2) I’ll note btw for timeline, the war has been going on for nine and a half years as of this episode. Nine years ago the Empire of Giad declared war on all neighbors and invaded with the legion. The republic military suffered a huge defeat and then went into the current defensive posture. For five years they monitored signals from the Empire of Giad to the legion, presumably giving them orders. Four years ago those signals ceased, and the Republic military has concluded that the Empire of Giad has also been destroyed by the legion. This was mentioned back in episode two but is easy to miss.
