The light was going off to show that the two of them are the same. It's the message behind the shot, both of them are equals despite Yong Woo's disability because in the dark we just see two people ^^

Rollercoaster of emotions indeed. I would imagine that this case would be even hard to solve for a pro. I am not, and it kinda leaves me helpless ngl. . On the one hand I totally get that special protection is needed for sure. On the other hand wouldn`t it mean that such a handicaped (hope this is the right term) person is never allowed to be in a deeper relationship? And what thoughts would this trigger in the person itself knowing you might never know if you are "really" in love with someone. Ngl this episode good me good big time. 😭And at the kiss while watching we were all shouting as Carlie did.😂 Such an adorable scene. 😍 Gosh I love the show and your reactions to it as well. 💛

Haha...the lights in the corridors or shared balcony areas in apartments like this are sensors, that's why they went on and off. Now onto the more serious stuff...levels of consent is always a big discussion when it comes to decision-making. When it comes to disability, there is a need to determine whether the person has the capacity to make informed decisions about a variety of different things. It does not purely have to do with their intellect based on IQ tests. There are variations on how a person with certain types of relevant disabilities can make decisions, but they are meant to be involved as much as possible in that process for supported decision-making where possible. This is better than having a substitute decision-maker as that would mean even less independence. When a person does not have the intellectual/mental capacity to make decisions, other significant people in their life or a Public Guardian can be appointed with specific functions (e.g. financial, medical, access, restrictive practices). These functions mean they can decide on these types of decisions for a set period of time before it is reviewed again. However, such decision-makers are usually only appointed if there are specific key decisions to be made. Otherwise, the decisions can fall to persons responsible around the person with a disability (e.g. a parent) i.e. informal decision-makers. I would expect Korean laws and systems are setup similarly, but what is tricky is that as a person grows up, the types of decisions they need to make become increasingly complex. Situations like this are difficult for a parent/family member to assist in because a person is not necessarily going to ask their informal decision-maker whether it's okay to do a whole number of things when in an intimate relationship. Society generally doesn't consider topics like sex when it comes to people with disabilities etc especially when people mostly jump straight to prioritising safety. However, it comes back to the idea of duty of care vs dignity of risk. Like Youngwoo said, even a person with a disability should have the right to choose who they like even if that person is a 'bad' person because they should not be limited for the sake of protection to a degree which takes away their human rights. They are still at an age where their body is mature and it is age appropriate to explore their sexuality, different relationships with people around them, ideas of love/marriage etc. In this case, the result of the trial has more to do with the intent of the defendant. However, it makes Youngwoo and the woman involved in the relationship question why their words seem to be less valued and why they don't seem to be afforded the same rights as others in other people's minds. Definitely a lot to think about!

oh yeah, that was a tough one for sure. it's easy to see both sides and honestly I would leave the decision of what's right to experts like psychologists and lawyers, as I really don't feel qualified for such topics. but I do know that IQ isn't everything when making decisions, it's also about life experience, and how developed our frontal lobe is. I think that one thing I can decide on is that poor girl is a victim, of that guy as well as her mom, which is really sad.

the light went off because the universe was giving them privacy. I thought. It went on the first time at the wrong time interrupting the moment, and then...off at just the right time.
