Dress up darling has fanservice that is quite distasteful in my opinion. Unfortunately it is recurrent and not something I think Carlie or Ange would appreciate, do keep this in mind if you guys plan to watch it. Other than that the show is superb.

Not sure why Dress Up Darling keeps getting put in these polls. It’s clear you guys want to watch it, as you’ve mentioned a few times, but you put it up against shows that have recency bias supporting them, in this case AD. This may sound like a dumb question but what exactly do you consider fan service? Because I would like to say no I personally don't believe there is any fan service, or if there is it is minimal and has relevance to the plot or characters. But we may have different definitions of what that entails

Even when the character's are well build to say, it has a point in the story.. Its not necessarily in there for fanservice... It all is part of the world building and social structure. Thats why I hope it wins ,as much as I liked my dress up, theres so much unnecessary and lowkey creepy ( seeing the age of the characters ) fanservice. A bit of it makes sense due to the type of story but it took me out of the show quite a few times .

Random titty and panty shots that are there for no reason. Especially when they zoom in and linger on said shots. Boob physics that don’t make sense (excessive bouncing). When it shows women being in no clothes for no other reason but for fan service lol I think there’s a character in fire force who is constantly falling out of her clothes idk stuff like that. Basically what they did to Mitsuri in demon slayer if you’ve seen that. (I still love demon slayer but the fan service got kind of wild).

Wonder when they'll start One Piece? I like BoldCast format. They are doing 2 episodes every 2 days so basically just 1 episode per day, no big deal to start it right? 😉😅 though it will take them around 3 years to catchup (skipping fillers)

I'm not familiar with any of these so I'll abstain from voting on this one, but hope y'all enjoy whichever ends up getting picked! On the other completely not light-hearted side of the spectrum, I'd be really interested to see you guys react to Heavenly Delusion someday. It's a relatively short watch (only 13 episodes thus far) that's heavy on the theory-crafting/mystery aspect.

Okay yea so if that’s the case like I said personally I wouldn’t consider the show to have fan service, there are definitely no crazy jiggle physics or panty shots, the most you see are some well endowed women or some buff guys but again usually there’s relevance to that. I agree with @michalovesanime, I want to keep things spoiler free for you and others so I’d suggest watching the first maybe 5 minutes of the first episode (or the whole thing obviously if you enjoy it) and if anything within that first 5 minutes makes you uncomfortable then you may not enjoy the show, but if not then I don’t think you’d have any issues going forward

All three are good picks. But I would go with The Apothecary Diaries because of the three I had the most fun with that one. If I can add one, idk if that is allowed, then I would go with Overlord. It has 4 seasons already and it is an interesting world building experience in the literal sense. Also it scratches the isekai/fantasy itch!

As someone who's put off by fanservice just as much, AD only has a few; it's more to emphasise the setting/environment of the story. So minimal it's easy to ignore, and majority of it is actually matter-of-fact commentary from the female mc, not like some creepy/distasteful oggling. for a story with references to brothels & palace harems, AD has way less/milder fanservice than some set-in-highschool stories tbvh

I don't like unnecessary fan service either, but this anime doesn't make me uncomfortable in that way. It's probably because the characters that are the subject of fan service willingly dress themselves to have sex appeal (you'll find a solid reason for that if you watch it), and they are all adult characters who are not infantilized.

In that case, you should be safe. You might see "voluptuous" women sometimes, but it's because it actually makes sense in the context *no spoilers*, so it shouldn't bother you. For example, if there were a scene with women changing in a locker room, some animes would make it extra sus for no reason, and other animes, like AD, would just use it as a setting, so it doesn't get annoying. Hope it helps !

Liked all three but Apothecary Diaries has a better story in my opinion amongst them. Its one of those kinds of shows you can't help but binge watch because of how well they lead to the next one making you want to know what happens next.

For shows with very prominent female characters, I'd love for Carlie to react more to AD just because it's less "male gaze"-y if that makes sense. I know AD is labeled seinen but the potrayal of women & their relationships with beauty, power, other women, and men is amazing.

Please, don't start One Piece. It's a nice show with epic moments a so, but the time and effort to reach those moments simply are not worthy. Instead you can watch a TON of other shows with same or even better epicness. For example My Hero Academia or even old ones.

Apothecary Diaries is pretty different from things that you've seen up till now so it might be a nice changeup. When you get done with Solo Leveling, you should consider PLUTO. An anime based on the manga of renowned author Urasawa who based his story on the manga of Tezuka, considered the father of manga.

It has some but literally just a tiny speck. And they made the show so interesting that you’d likely forget about the quick fan service. You’ll end up thinking more about the “what’s gonna happen next” than the “oh b👀bs/abs”. It’s really a great show.

What exactly is top tier about apothecary? It’s decent, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not doing anything I haven’t seen before, nor is the writing particularly deep or complex. It’s a smart show with the different applications of medicine and some decent mystery aspects and I like the main character, just don’t understand how it’s top tier or peak like people keep saying. Especially when comparing it to a show like Frieren which is actually top tier.

if anyone's only takeaway from the show is "old era bad because women had few rights" and THAT'S IT then they've completely missed the plot 😅 more than anything AD highlights how these women overcame their horrible circumstances, the cunning yet brilliant measures they took to survive in such an environment that's made to cage them, how women use what means they have to gain power in said cage, why calling them "vain" for pursuing beauty is simplistic as beauty/looks was one of the few ways these women could have actual sway & influence and therefore control over their future and security, how many of the women in the show may have disagreed on each other's methods but understood the complex reasons behind their questionable choices

Can't find a source for you but in the past they've said in a video that Ange tends to be on the lookout for what's currently popular/brings in youtube views. I imagine that's what they pick from for the polls. EDIT: they've also said they like to followup shows with similar/same genres. So expect hxh to be followed by a shounen, blue lock by another sports anime and so on. This pol being a frieren replacement means that anything following it up will be a similar vibe, as we can see from the currently presented options.

Hunter x Hunter is already a big decision since its 146 episodes. Imagine one of those anime.. Plus, mostly my opinion but i strongly believe its true, those mainstream anime are so popular because people have grown up with them,its a part of their childhood,they are not that great though. For example i loved Fairy Tail so much, ever since i got a bit experienced in anime i can say for sure that it's a very mid ranged choice

Slight spoilers for hazbin: So I’m pretty sure Carlie is very religious. Obviously that doesn’t entirely mean she wouldn’t like the show but I have seen some people like in tik tok or in YouTube comments kind of offended by the portrayal of angels and of characters like Adam. (Not often but I have seen them). I even saw someone agree with Adam that sinners shouldn’t be allowed to be rehabilitated 💀. On one hand it’s easy to say it’s just a show who cares but I’m not religious at all so idk I feel like it’s kind of unfair to say that. But idk maybe it wouldn’t bother her at all 🤷🏻‍♀️. I just got the vibes it might a little lol. But that was it.

@Caracas It's probably the whole shinigami/death realm shenanigans contrasting with their views on heaven/hell. I don't know my religion well enough but maybe that's some kind of blasphemy. Alternatively it's because of Light practically wanting to become some sort of god of justice which might be an issue? idk these are the only two things I can personally think of but yeah. Didn't even know Carlie was heavily religious lol never heard them talk about it. EDIT: It's been a while since I watched Death Note but doesn't the show explicitly refer to the shinigami as ''Angels of Death''? I think the whole idea of them being Angels but looking the way they do and representing death might also be an issue lol.
