There's a powerful free program called Blender that can be used for 3D modeling, sculpting, rendering, and animating. It's an extremely difficult program to use but the amount of things you can do with it once you master it are endless. I spent a lot of time looking up tutorials on how to use it and can now use its basic features.

Unfortunately, posing in Blender is an absolute nightmare compared to DAZ Studio. There's so much clutter on the screen from the figure skeleton and nodes that I can barely see anything. On top of that there's no simple way to modify the eyes or mouth. It just takes way too long to get a decent pose going.

I'm going to stick with DAZ Studio. Blender is a great program but it's just not for me.

Note: Credits go to PharaohIllusion for creating the Laura Matsuda model.

Oh Blender is amazing, but for sure not for posing. I highly recommend it for making morphs for DAZ characters, and making original props. But when it comes to rendering, DAZ 100% wins out.

I totally agree, I still have Blender installed so if I ever need to make props or morphs I have it available.
