Discord? (Patreon)

I've seen some Patreon make a Discord channel access as part of the reward. What do you guys think? Seems pretty interesting to have a place for us to chat more freely, but I'm not sure if I actually need that? If you pledge to someone with a discord channel, what do they use it for?

Let me know if you guys want to have that and maybe I'll look into it.

A Discord is great to chat with the Community further, but also needs some moderation since there will always be trolls and such. I think it's a good idea but it'll be best to slowly build the Discord how you want it and then when it's all setup to your liking tack it onto the pledge tiers. If you need any help with Discord if you do go ahead with it I'm always willing to help out.

^ Totally agree. Discord is a good way to get immediate responses and messages to your Patreon followers.

Indeed, I did see multiple people on Patreon use Discord now. They mainly post WIPs or sketches and ask for opinions. It's quite a big task to keep a Discord server clean and running. Don't underestimate it. But it can give nice direct feedback from users.

Keeping a Discord server definitely isn't easy. I'm a mod in a couple servers myself, and just keeping track of everything everyone is doing is crazy. But it can be fun if you are willing to put a lot of time to talking with your fans.

I don't mean trolls, I mean the own community breaking rules and such. Keeping content safe (even in +18 environments) is crucial.

yeah the patreon bot only allows access to pledger. I don't think people who pays for stuff would intentionally mess up the community they paid for
