Hi all! A bit of a more technical question than usual here, but I've been wondering if I should change the format of my artwork.

Currently, I draw on default on a A4 canvas, which is the common "printer paper" size in my country, and only make it wider if for some reason the art doesn't fit in the canvas (like, looong dragons :3 ).

To work, I still use a Wacom Cintiq from over 10 years ago which has a rather "square" screen which is not very different to A4, but I realize most people nowadays have wider proportioned screens... so I'm thinking about switching to a more panoramic size, like 16:9, which displays better on modern screens.

What do you all think? What format do you prefer?

Using 16:9 is more for wallpaper or long creatures (I love put nsfw in my desktop), but I think it will depend more on the situation. Some times is good see 4:3 pics or others formats...

I believe format is piece dependent, sometimes you want smaller more focused 1:1 square format sometimes a 29:16 is appropriate as it depends on big you think it should be.

Which format works for you the best for what you feel like doing, don't let it limit yourself. I find joy in your art regardless of shape. Digital or real media, which inspires you at each time!
