Yes that's a Kill la Kill joke and No I haven't watched it yet... Also just throwing this out there. My favorite kind of romance is one with LOTS OF ANGST AND HOT INTENSE EMOTIONS. Really makes the moments when characters can release their feelings REALLY WORTH IT ESPECIALLY IN AN INTENSE FIGHT SCENE!!
