dev diary: treat+BET news (Patreon)

hey, so! i finished that starry flowers comic like, instantly!!! i was planning on sharing more finished pages and the cover here like i did with mirror call but uhhh now it’s up, so there’s no reason to! maybe releasing the first half of treat 8 cleared my mind and that’s why i could suddenly do it… maybe i’m just in an upswing… i felt like i went into fever mode haha, i’m so energized…

anyway, putting that aside! i’ve had a few other things in progress!!!

trick comes home

here's TRICK’S NEW LOOK for the end of the game!!!!

we are about to meet someone who will give them some long overdue new clothes… i really like doing this sort of thing to show a character’s growth/differentiate from where they were before yknow?? (trick in their parent era… wow.)

it took a bit to land on what i wanted for them, so enjoy the alts. the first one is sorta like kurapika (hunter x hunter) and the others were like, too formal or not the right vibe... the side ponytail was mandatory tho.

game-wise i drew some new tiles and made the entrance to the next area, but i think it will be another pretty-involved place (not as big as krem, but you will be there for a bit). so i have to think about some beat by beat stuff before i can put it all together.

my current goal is to have a WIP build ready by april/may (i know i said july before, but i forgot i was planning a big trip in may!!!) so i’m gonna try to focus on it this month and see how far i can get before i switch to working on SAS or something. yay!

BAD END THEATER

there’s some cool stuff on the horizon for this game! not content-wise because i consider the story to be complete… but two things are taking up a fair amount of time/energy so i wanted to mention them here.

the first thing is that google invited me to put this game on google play pass!!! it’s something you normally have to submit an application for, so it’s very cool that they reached out (i kept planning on submitting but i never got around to it… or… hang on, did i apply?!?!?? did i apply and forget and think they invited me randomly??????? i’m suddenly filled with doubt, you’re witnessing my live reaction)

i did have to change some things on the programming end though, namely the whole checking that the player has an active license to be able to play the game. i had to download android studio and go through this whole rigamarole… it was really frustrating at times, but luckily npckc helped me out A TON with this ;_; i would have been completely lost if i had to do it alone!!!!

anyway that’s planned for the end of march! i just got everything submitted as of last night, so it’s basically good to go… there’s some translation updates that will drop this month or next (we’re adding romanian!) but yeah otherwise that’s it...!

the second thing is that i’m working with an indie label (turtle pals tapes) to make a physical release of the game/soundtrack!!!

pop it in a computer and play the game..! pop it in a cd player and hear the soundtrack…!!! WOW!! TECHNOLOGY!!!!!!!!

this company actually contacted me back in like, august or something…? but i took forever to make the assets for them… i feel bad i delayed it so much, but i finally put the booklet together a few weeks ago! so i feel comfortable telling you guys it’s happening now that things are moving forward again!!

no release date yet, but i will definitely make an announcement when it’s available for purchase. this one WON’T BE LIMITED RUN!!!! I’M SO HAPPY, I REALLY DON’T LIKE DOING LIMITED RUN STUFF AAAAAA (i don’t have a choice with makeship… but the plushies are so cute it’s worth it…...)
