Hey everyone,

we hope you had a great week! Let's get right to it:

EP9 Facial Mocap:

A little info about the Facial Mocap Workflow.

  • First thing is, we need final Audio. In this case, Marie recorded Temp-Audio for the other Voice Artists to dub, and for me to create the animations before the final Voice-Overs are even here. We will then just replace the audio file.
  • Second is to record the initial Facial-Mocap in Maya to a template Character (that one works with the Rig I have). You can see here, that it is very rough and needs polishing.

  • Next I transfer that rough animation to the final Character and do a polishing Pass

  • Last but not least, I export it to Unreael and check if it looks good. If I need changes, I will go back to Maya and polish even more.

I have a very streamlined workflow for that which allows us to have more dialogue in the Episodes since EP7. Before that, I had to animate the talking and all the nuances on the Face by hand, which was a LOT of work. It's still quite some work to get a final animation, but the time was cut by at least 60-70%. Which is great 😁

GAME:

We have several things that we are working on right now.

  • New Locomotion: Tests look very good and we also got a first draft for Swimming - Remember: those are not final graphics or animations! We are just building the framework right now. We actually had to re-do the whole system because of issues with the previous one. Was definitely the right thing to do and everything works a lot smoother now. Here is a VIDEO-LINK with a first test.
  • Front-End: Menu, Character Selection and so on.

Coders working on Cumshot-System update. Once that is out of the way (and some other minor fixes) we can continue with the update.
