Odd placement for garlic jr tbh. Especially since I think they made this movie before they moved on to season 3, tho I could be wrong about that.

Arimpact

The placement in the list was weird, this did came first, then episode 31's garlig Jr came later. They don't have the dragon cause Goku did eat Icarus at the end. Look at the end credit for the revenge of cooler dbza movie, you see his bones. So Icarus will never show up again in "DBZA canon" :).

Its real, gohan pissed on krillin

Kevin Mcmanus

What’s the next movie you guys are gonna do because I recommend wreck it ralph

Down D Stairs

Icarus started off in the movies and then got added to some filler episodes

OmikayeYT

Whoever told you that these movies are canon in dbza were liars, they are just as non canon as the show, the creators say so themselves in their creator commentarys.

Emperor Belos

Dbza makes it a point to kill Icarus every movie

Emperor Belos

Garlic jr finding out they stole gokus kids and beat his wife was like the first John wick when they found out that that one dude stole his care and killed his dog

Another point for the Dragon not trying to fuck over people with their wishes, is that when they were ressurecting Freiza it *did* warn the people that'd he'd come up in chopped up pieces because that's the state of his body before death. He only completed the wish when the people wishing Freiza back were like: "Nah, do it, it's fine. We got medical equipment that can fix him."

Pretty sure DBZ:A's movies are just thrown in the playlist based on when they were *completed*, rather than in any kind of chronological order. Same issue as when a streaming site lists things in broadcast order, but not really *episode order*. This one was, chronologically, meant to be watched immediately after Season 2's reveal of Nappa being revived, as a sort of "who the fuck is Garlic Jr." prelude to that arc/episode. Though, yes, the actual events of the movie itself take place before the Saiyan Saga. Either way, the movies are definitely NOT canon, even in DBZ:A, but they do *have* a canon in DBZ:A, where they attempt to at least *try* and explain how and when each movie would have taken place-- even if that means absurd nonsense like "they randomly leave to go off into space in the middle of an arc," or some such. So the movies have **a** canon unto themselves, but are not *themselves* canon to the main story. There are running jokes that persist from movie to movie, as well as movie-specific callbacks and such being almost entirely limited to other movies. The BIGGEST clue as to the fact that the movies are not canon to DBZ:A, though? The Krillin Owned Count. It never increases. Which means that it's less canon than the Marin filler, even, as far as DBZ:A is concerned. And, obviously, this movie in particular would have added several points to that counter, so it's a pretty ironclad rule for determining what they count within their canon. Although... I suppose if Krillin made the whole thing up, it's POSSIBLE to claim that it's canon because none of that happened? But I think that's also kinda the point: they leave it juuuust open enough that, with enough dumb mental gymnastics, you *could* decide "okay, yeah, sure, that's canon, fuck it." Either way, though, it's reeeeeally not that important. Do keep in mind that movies in that playlist seem to be placed *completely* irrelevant to their chronology, though!

Some context for the guys, this was the first DBZ movie ever. There was already a dead zone abridged before TFS so they skipped over it. But they later went on and did Dead Zone abridged. The playlist you’re watching is just in release order, not chronological.

hurryupmode

This is pre-Raditz

Demi

The playlist is sorted in airing order, and the movies usually lined up with conventions, and from what I remember of their director commentaries they are doing right now, these were generally thrown together in a month or two so they would have something fun and new to show off during one of their panels while they were working on the actual show, which they put a lot, A LOT, more time and effort into. The movies were more of a for fun sort of endeavor to give them selves a break from the main story.

DementisXYZ

The original movie was the first DBZ movie, but for abridged (due to pre-TFS projects), the first and second movies were skipped over initially. Dead Zone and World's Strongest, which will come later, because milestone projects for hitting 1 Million and 2 Million Subscribers respectively. For Dead Zone, they tied it in chronologically with it being a movie pitched by Krillin. When you get to World's Strongest, though, they didn't try to tie it in to where they were at in the story, but it does sort of fit into the late Season 1 timeline. Also, in regards to what was said about the movies being canon, TFS treats the movies as if they're canon on their own timeline, parallel to the series. Because, yes, these things are in no way canon to the series, proper.

During the credits of Cooler's Revenge, right after the French henchman died, you saw a dragon skeleton. You guys missed it because caught up in looking up VA of Cooler. It implies Goku actually ate Icarus like he wanted to in Abridged!

Cloud Kitsune

The peeing scene was 100% unedited. That was indeed in the original movie. XD

So there really are downsides to making a wish with the dragon. Mostly that it should be hard to do and make multiple wishes. Since after a wish the dragon balls scatter across the globe and can't be used again for a year I think. But the radar that Bulma made made it so that getting the dragon balls again wouldn't take very long, which without a radar would be a long and difficult process to find them again. But yeah in DB, DBZ, and DBS I don't think the dragon balls really have a downside, but DBGT(which I liked personally), explored the idea of what if dragon balls had a downside after using them. GT wasn't made by Toriyama, but having the dragon balls with downsides was a cool idea.

Obsidianfox

I think this and the Broly movie have to be my faves of DBZA.

Blindshark

i think you were supposed to watch this before the android saga
