Content

So. I've finally accepted that I can only really write what I want to write, when I want to write it. If I try to make myself write something I'm not in the mood for I end up spending weeks on a single story/chapter, getting nothing else done, and end up with something of lower quality to boot.

While I will likely be producing more content in the future, as a result of this, it does make it hard to keep to a schedule. I know my bonus stories in particular have been suffering as a result of this.

Unfortunately, because I shifted to "pay upfront" at one point, I can't actually switch this account to "Pay per creation" - I'd have to make another Patreon. If I did this, I'd continue updating this one so long as there were people on it, but I'd be actively directing people to the other Patreon.  (Which sort of sucks, since I'd be losing my founders account, but... I do think it would be fairer to you all.)

Anyway, my main question is less "Should I do this" and more "Would any of you migrate over if I did it?" If everyone just wants to keep things as they are then I'll probably drop the idea, but if people express an interest... Well, we'll see.

PS: I'm fairly sure I'm phasing out the 3 dollar tier, regardless. I haven't been producing many polls, and what polls I produce tend to either be for everyone or only relevant to higher tiers.

PPS: The relative results matter less than the number of people who say they prefer Pay Per Creation. If enough people want it, I'll set it up as a backup regardless.

So, most people are doing the poll, but I just wanted to comment that if you're getting fatigued because you're focused more on a single story, you really should prioritize your own mental and physical health first and foremost... Even if most people prefer things the way they are, it doesn't seem like it's sustainable long-term for you as a creator, and as a Patron, I'd much prefer you to be happy and do your best than to essentially turtle in one spot. Bottom line, if you explained it, then odds are people will follow you over regardless. Or, at least a majority would... Either way, hopefully you're doing well and taking the time you need to recoup 🙂

Thanks. :) To be honest, one way or another I intend to change how I approach my writing and start letting my creative urges take me where they will - it'll be better for my mental health, better for my output, and (I hope) better for my readers. But I still want to give my patrons options - so I *might* end up creating a second patreon (and a cloned Wordpress site that corresponds to that patreon) for those who'd prefer it. ...But then again, I might not. I was all ready to go for it - have everything all but set up - but the vast majority of people (so far) would rather I keep to the current patreon system. So I might just tweak the rewards, instead.

I want to make it clear that for me, "keep things as they are" means "paying upfront gives me access to whatever you happen to publish". It does NOT imply that I'd expect you to keep a schedule, or even announce one. I'm happy to just invest in you as a writer, rather than buying a specific work of yours.

Just wanna keep supporting you being awesome~ <3

Tazrael

I'm not worried about the rewards, or more particularly the pace of them. I'm supporting you because I want to.

PrincessKay

Thank you. Sincerely. I do want to get more out, all the same, but. Yeah. I need to change up how I approach my writing.

...And belatedly realizing that I posted a comment (instead of a response) let me just officially thank you for your comment. It really did mean a lot. <3
