I felt there was need for another patch release to address issues and bugs found in 1.18.0.5. Release notes below. Use VaM_Updater.exe to get the patch. If you are having trouble with updater, several users have reported on-screen-display applications like MSI Afterburner + Riva Tuner are causing the updater to not work. I'm still attempting to repeat this on my system to see if it can be fixed on my end. In the meantime, if you have this application or another like it, try disabling or exiting before running the updater. 

1.18.1

1.18.1 has been further delayed due to this additional patch work, but my feeling is quality should come first before new features are worked on. Now that 1.18.0 is in good shape, I will be entering a cave and will be unresponsive to direct messages and inactive on Discord for how many ever number of days it takes to complete 1.18.1. Here is what you can expect from 1.18.1 when it arrives:

  • Hair Sim V3 - this system uses skin wrap instead of static mesh for the scalp. This allows hair to adjust properly to different head shapes from morphing.
  • Custom Hair Styles - you will be able to make new hair styles using hair sim V3 and a number of in-game tools for grow/cut/comb. These new styles will show up as new items in the hair chooser and can be easily shared with others.
  • Custom Hair Scalps - you will be able to import custom scalp meshes to grow hair from. This import will work a lot like clothing import, only you can grow hair out of the mesh vertices. This should allow using hair sim system for other types of hair (face, body, etc.)
  • Multiple-hair enable - you will be able to enable multiple styles at the same time, allowing for mix and match and varying physics on different pieces of an overall style. This also allows for hair on different regions to be active at same time.
  • Hair Tagging and Filtering System - similar to clothing tag and filtering in 1.18.0

1.18.0.6 Release Notes

Tweaks:

  • Improved custom morph checking - now checks to make sure custom morph is unique by both "id" and "displayName" since that is what is required internally for everything to work correctly.
  • Synced up built-in tags from clothing creator and clothing browser. Fixed UI sizing for the panels
  • SteamVR - Teleport now allows multiple clicks to teleport multiple times without having to take thumb completely off of pad
  • Made X buttons on text entry fields bigger with bigger click zone
  • Exposed JSON param for setting is pose loader uses snap or not

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed issue with load hang (stuck in Restoring atom Person) when reading a custom morph that had a null displayName
  • Fixed grab and teleport navigation to work in all modes again
  • Fixed several places where textures were not getting freed, leaking memory
  • Fixed cylinder and tube atom collision issue
  • Fixed some Ren skin texture options swapping in incorrect specular texture
  • Fix for file browser to properly support file names with “.” In them
  • Fix for transient morphs not working with merge loading
  • Fixed Vive Tracker unpossess not working when using 2-Stage Possess Without Clear
  • Fixed load pose or other manual manipulation of a possessed control breaking ability to grab. The manual manipulation was not clearing the possessed state. 
  • Fixed bone morph conflict between male and female banks causes bad results in bone positions and orientations
  • Fix for when other gender morphs are disabled, their bone offsets were still being applied and not getting reset back to 0

so i have none of the above mentioned plugins or applications and 1.18.0.6 crashes for me. Had no issues with previous version. Built-in scenes cause it to crash as well. This is really terrible as I am not even able to use this version without it crashing. I don't want to pay or contribute if its not going to work.

Is the developer no longer creating demo scenes/content to show off new features? All these nice updates but I don't know how to test them...

Just updated and lost all my load buttons on the main File (open/save). I cannot open anything except New Scene which just puts me into a loop to the default loading scene. Help!

Core repair didn't help. Went back to 0.5 version and the problem persists. Something in my settings? Anyone else having this issue?

It was my bad. My pledge hadn't gone through. Fixed that. But now it tells me the creator key is invalid *sigh*

Solved. Went back to vers 1.17, used the key for 1.17 and it loaded fine as creator. Then I updated to the3 latest and it seems fine. Just in case anyone else runs into a similar issue...

2 more things - it seems it's no longer showing which point you're hovered over, just the atom name. And the VR Leap Motion options always switches to collision off when closing, you have to reset it each time.

Well that was the most painful software installation in a long time. 9 GB should take exactly 2,5 h to download, but the installer apparently downloads one file at a time making everything slower. Then it downloads huge files of several 100 MB which repeatedly fail hash checking, resulting in downloading it again and again. As if that wasn't enough it makes it a fatal error to fail the hash check multiple times thereby introducing a manual component in the whole process meaning you have to babysit it or no further progress will be made. In the end it didn't take 2,5 hours, but several days to download measly 9 GB. A simple torrent would have been so much better, especially with hash failure. Any other way would have been better. And I haven't even mentioned that after all this when I try to run it Win 10 complains that the app can't be run on this PC. So I look for system requirements in several places, but can find no mention of any. Nowhere can I find info on whether the 32 bit installer is actually installing a 64 bit app or if the problem is something else.

Animation & motion capture engine are still in development, and a Creator-only thing. Theres some mods people made to kinda do what you're saying (E-motion and compliance come to mind) besides that theres also a bunch of animations scenes etc having these things, just start looking around on https://directory.vamresources.com/

1 Terabyte HD?!! Haha ya umm no dude. My VAM file is 21.9 GB and that's including a good number of scenes. My tiny 250 GB NON sata hard drive works just fine. VAM ran on a old i5, and now runs better on a Ryzen 2600g. Don't have or know what a grapiccart is so unfortunately cant comment on that one, but everything else you said is completely false.

It would be cool if you could apply clothing to an Empty. That way you could import static objects with editable materials through the clothing importer. Or better yet, it would be cool if there was a tool to import static objects from Daz like the clothing importer.

Yeah well it's beautiful and all and there really nothing out there quite like this. VaM is unique, no argument there. However, once the wow effect settles down, I just can't, just can't get used to how everything clips through everything. Pull bodies through furniture, cuffs through skin and bones, no problem. Get a member or a prop into an orifice where it belongs - major issue. And once you manage to get it in it promptly pops out through the hip or neck or back, whatever. I know I know colliders and whatnot. Point is, this issue is central to VaM. No other feature is more important. Not VR, not clothing, not the UI. This is not DAZ. "Meshed VR", I implore you, please recognize this fact. Thanks.

Well, i just joined Creator Tier and cant access any (even no lower) tier postings, and also so no keys :( any advice?

Did you make sure your payment went through alright? If you go to the top of this page, click the "Overview" tab next to the Posts Tab,. Then under his Avatar/name/info, there is a box that says "Featured Tags" with the word Keys in bold lettering. Click that. It should take you right to the post for your key. :) And welcome to the VaM Club!

Where do I enter my key? I joined as a Creator but I see nowhere to enter the code on the main screen and am limited to free content.
