1.15 is out! As previously posted this release includes major improvements to clothing simulation, hair simulation, soft-body physics, and performance! Enjoy!

Update and Direct Method (Recommended) - Download the zip from the link below and extract to existing VaM install folder, then run  VaM_Updater.exe to patch the release to 1.15.0.0. For new installs, extract the zip to a new folder and run VaM_Updater.exe. It will do a full install in new folder. The updater uses a CDN to distribute the files for faster access worldwide.

Features:

  • Enhanced Clothing Simulation – New “Fiber” system for better shape hold. Better performance. Fast movement and prediction enhancements. Fixed physics vibration and instability. Redid most existing cloth settings for better defaults.
  • Enhanced Hair Simulation – Completely new and more controllable rigidity system to replace old elasticity system. Added new style “Cling” joints for holding style without forcing hair to be fixed to head position. Added “Bend Resistance” joints that prevent hair from doubling back on itself in unnatural way. Added new “Snap” param to control liveliness. Quick Multiplier replaced with new Weight param. Redid all existing hair settings for more natural behavior. Also fixed the scalp cutoff of many of the hair styles as some were too low or were missing sections.
  • Sim Hair Rendering – New coloring system for easier root->tip coloring and rolloff. Added ability to select between Fast and Quality shader (in the Look tab). Fast shader does not receive shadows (but still casts them) but can be up to 2-3x faster to render. Added in proper light attenuation based on light distance. Directional shadow casting now works. Minor tweaks to lighting calculations. Redid all existing hair settings with new colors and looks.
  • Enhanced Soft Body Physics – New parameters for breast region for finer control and added variety. Fast movement and prediction improvements. Eliminated flashing/jerking issue – much smoother movement now. Increased allowable range on mass. Added ability to set max soft body distance for more range of movement. Performance improvements. Added alternate glute colliders when glute soft-body is off. Added proper GPU colliders for both breasts and glutes when soft-body is off.

Content:

  • New simulated clothing items. Added sim variants for DATM Pants, Alphakini Bra and Panty, and Heat Up Panty. All of these include various states to start in like non-sim counterparts.  Added new Garden Party Dress. A new school girl outfit was going to be added, but there were some issues with how the mesh was put together that prevented it from simulating correctly. There are plans to remedy this in future release. 
  • (Beta) New simulated PonyTail. Future release will add hair ties to complete the look. More variants will be added.

Tweaks:

  • Major performance enhancements. Performance increase ranges from 10-50% depending on benchmark and scene
  • Fixed eye reflection shader to not show light specular in shadowed areas
  • Clothing tab split into Standard and Sim sub tabs for easier discovery of sim clothing
  • Added more auto colliders and GPU colliders to help prevent clipping of sim clothing into skin.

Bug Fixes:

  • Removed ghost meshes from sim clothing items that could cause odd rendering issues
  • Added in proper Little Flirt Top textures
  • Fixed Miss Kringle Dress materials
  • Fixed issue with desktop performance monitor interfering with UI interaction

This build feels like a step back to be honest. The hair and sim clothing behaves less reliably, and in particular most of the sim hair styles look pretty bad now. All the styles with bangs just hang limply no matter what settings you use, have no body to them, and stretches ridiculously when the head moves. Trying to make styles with curl just makes them super frizzy and weightless. And clothing undressing seems like all or nothing now, either it sticks like glue or immediately falls off with the slightest movement. Especially the flirty top, if one shoulder detaches, it always pulls the whole thing off. The performance seems pretty much unchanged from the last version. With a recent generation i7 turning on soft body knocks it under 90fps even with only one character in the scene, but turn it off and nipples clip through the sim clothing.

Good update. Hair looks much better now.. Just don't rely on your old tweaks, guys. Also the performance seems good. Thats coming from someone on a 1060-maxq laptop.

Bug Report: Hmmm Sim Alphakini is Buggy on my game, its going upwards when undress is enabled. Tried default physics settings and own settings, not working on my game.

I had the exact same feeling, that's why i came back to read to comment, just to make sure that i'm not crazy. For the first time, i have to admit that i'll keep using the 1.14 version. Also, there is some real nice textures missing for the clothings that disapered from 1.14 to 1.15 :(

I think it was made like that, to pull the top instead of droping it. I've never see a girl removing a bikini to the bottom :p

Still having problems with that updater. Instant crash every time it tries to download the updates from server... It is currently updated to 1.12. It appears to be starting with "Downloading patch 1.12.0.21.13.0.1 indexer from remote server!" So instead of a few minutes patch update, its a 10GB download from MEGA which takes an hour. I think the hair is looking great but I am not seeing too much of a performance boost. I'm getting a lot of stuttering when I equip both sim hair and sim clothes. 8700k _ 1080. Hair on its self it looking amazing and fluid, love it!

That was a bug. The top was actually using the skirt textures. Now it is using the top textures that came with it. Notice the black one has different transparency.

The current patcher only works starting from 1.13.0.1 or later. You can remove the config file that is in the root directory and then the patcher will do the full download for you from CDN instead of having to use Mega. Or you can run the patcher in new directory.

What I have found with Vive is if you were solidly at 45fps in 1.14, and now you are close to 90fps in 1.15, you will get more stuttering as it jumps between 45fps and 90fps. Kind of annoying. You can play with SteamVR options to maybe force 45 to prevent stutter. You can try out some of the included benchmarks and compare to 1.14 to see what the difference is on your specific system.

The sim pony tail is another awesome addition I've been looking forward to. EDIT: I thought the nose shadow issue was fixed, but it turns out I was just using a different texture where a darker area was painted in (Texture 1 doesn't have that). Because specific textures are unavailable to edit I can't do a quick fix myself, but it is what it is. The hair is immensely improved from the last version. I'm so stoked for this, and that you really listened to the suggestions here. And the sims are epic as fuck. BRAVO

The breasts do not drop down when character is leaning forward. Kinda looks like they are defying gravity. Is this because the length of the joint for breasts is fixed instead of dynamic?

Mega likes to push their downloader, so they designed their web browser downoader to be restricted by your browser's cache. You have to either download their downloader, or use the WeTransfer one, which works pretty well for me.

one thing that is happening with my copy is the hair styles that include bangs are all in front on their face and down in front of their eyes. I have to tweak the settings to get it to move but it doesn't look right. Am I missing something?

How about doing nothing for 1.16 except replacing the downloader? Differential update still seems to download a ridiculous amount of data. The downloads themselves are painfully slow even on a fast internet connection. There's no indication of the size of the overall update/download and how much is left. We only have the progress of the individual file currently being downloaded to look at. And after all that, the damn thing fails at the end. Every time. It's a crock of shit.

Set physics rate to high in preferences. This is a known problem with low physics rate setting.

The joint is dynamic, but not enough that gravity really effects it, and for it to really look right, it involves morphing the mesh using either morphs or soft-body physics. For 2.X I'll be putting in more work here with soft physics that will be effected by gravity. I did some experimenting with 1.X and making gravity have more effect on main joints and soft-body ended up making too much sag in many other poses.

Whoa! One of the sample cloth scenes (1.15 folder/hand_cloth) is showing on the monitor by default. I had no idea this was happening until I randomly saw it AFTER I took off the headset. It's a framebuffer capture of the the little window inside the scene in front of the model. This is NOT good. I got a fresh download and had not changed any settings. I had built some trust with this app assuming it wouldn't display on my monitor unless I explicitly told it to. Can you tell me why this is happening and how I can correct it?

Apologies. I include scenes unchanged from what I use for making the build. This particular scene has the Window Camera atom activated by default to allow screen recording. I'll update it in patch remove turn it off. You can edit the file HandCloth.json and search for cameraOn and change the value to false.

actually my program is still 1.13.0.2 and I use the updater every few days to check on updates. it states in the updater that it is 1.15 but when i run teh application it says version 1.13. I even downloaded the updater from the files above, erased the old updater and it still says the program is up to date then launches me in 1.13. we get some kind of employee discount cause i feel like free tech support. I am currently redownloading the entire 9 gb file for the third time since i started donating because of this.

Bug, possibly: "Possess and align head" button in UI shows possession nodes but they won't snap to my controllers or head when i pass through them. Am I the problem or is there something that can be done about it?

You need to download the updater specific to the version you wish to update to, then replace the old one then run it :)

I have a quick question about VR support. Does VAM support multiple point motion capture with the HTC Vive? Considering getting a vive, but wondered if more than just hands/head can be captured with the additional motion capture devices on vive. (Feet, hips, etc.)

I have a question, is it normal for VAM to use up all the RAM? And even after exiting there`s no mem dump, it just chewed up all the RAM. Is it a bug? Or is there a workaround? Mainly it happens when creating a character, trying textures, loading skins etc.

The biggest problem I have with the updater is that downloading seems to take a very very long time - not because of download speeds but because there is a long delay between files being downloaded. A file reaches 100% downloaded, but the next file doesn't start for upwards of 20 seconds sometimes

I would suggest that when the updater is downloading the app from scratch, it downloads a Zip version so it can just download 1 file instead of thousands. When it detects that the app is already installed and just needs to update, then it only downloads the files it needs
