This scene was captured in a single 60 second pass using 3 points of possession. This will only get better in the future when Vive tracker support is added and we can control hip and feet nodes with the trackers! Yeah my dancing sucks, but this was fun, and a welcome break after long weeks of coding (I'll get back to that soon)! Show me up with your dancing skills!

Here is the scene file that includes the animation capture as well. Creators can make their own dance animation by doing the following:

1. Clicking on the edit tab in the animation menu and click button to delete all animation.

2. Then arm head and hands for record.

3. Enter possess mode and possess the head and hands

4. turn on recording and take your own stab at dancing!

Entertainers, you can simply hit the Freeze button to stop the animation, then use Possess Mode to take control of head and hands. You can use the Window Camera output to your monitor to record to a video on your desktop (I recommend OBS Studio for very easy and low overhead capture).

Teasers - I'll add this scene to next month's build as a built-in scene for you to play with Possess Mode some more from a different perspective!

Note Window Camera is ON in this scene, so be aware your monitor is going to show what is going on inside. Might make for hilarity if someone sees you dancing with VR headset on and then glances at your monitor!

Very nice! On Vive controllers while in possess mode do I still need to click the select button on both controllers to start the recording? I had problems getting this work. Thx!

meshedvr

After possess click trigger to confirm possess. Now click start record button. Get in position then push just 1 thumbpad to start recording.

Thank you!!

how can you put your own audio to make model talk ?

meshedvr

You can't right now. This is a hard problem to solve (to get jaw and lip sync right). Not sure model will ever get past moans and other similar sounds.

Speaking of building animations, or animating in REAL TIME in the game: I don't think your Patreon funder may realize what you told me in a comment thread - that this game is capable of LINKING your hand Controller (on either Vive or Oculus Rift) to body parts. That would enable you to, in the real world, attach one of your hand controllers to any object (a pillow, a torso doll, whatever) and then MOVING that real world object would make the ANIMATED GIRL move. I think you could make this easier to do of course. I mentioned this on Trello under the Grab Point topic because I wasn't sure if it was anywhere else. But, people should know this is possible. And of course you could make it a lot easier for us. For each basic position scene - Cowgirl, Doggy, Rev Cowgirl, Missionary - go ahead build a group of points (a body part) that would make the most sense for linking to a Controller. It's basically the hips right? I mean, i know of no other game that's doing something like this besides "Let's Play with Nanai" (that one uses your smart phone as a tracker.) And that game is crude, with terrible animation, and it's very stiff and robotic. Your game is so much better in terms of physical realism. Could you add this as a change topic on Trello? I'm not sure what to call it. Hand Controller Default Links?

Actually, maybe a good tutorial would be to tell us how to create our own dance with this, but by linking a Hand Controller to her body. I should be able to link the controller to her torso or hips to make her Sway right?

meshedvr

Made some comments for this over on the GrabPoint card: <a href="https://trello.com/c/nV2LdjKp" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/nV2LdjKp</a>

meshedvr

Yeah you can possess the hips with hand controller. Creators can make any "Possessable" as they like. Or you can just use the standard quick/toggle grab and record from there. The recorder allows layering, so you can record one pass for each joint and keep building up the full scene animation. After 1st pass is recorded, it can auto-stop record at end so you don't overrun. I agree tutorials would be immensely useful. I'm hoping someone in the community can take this on so I can focus on the dev items.

Can we add some piercings to models ? tongue piercing loop earings belly piercings

matthew b

tongue options like sticking out ?

meshedvr

I'll see what is available. Added Trello card for this: <a href="https://trello.com/c/Jr7MevyG" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/Jr7MevyG</a>

meshedvr

You can do that now in edit mode by selecting head node and going to the last tab in the UI. There are options to control jaw and tongue joints. I'm not 100% happy with how tongue works now. I have dev item to tweak it: <a href="https://trello.com/c/tlDE1A5F" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/tlDE1A5F</a>

Couple of questions for you Meshed VR. How do you centre the view so that when saving a scene it appears correctly in the scenes associated jpg. I must be missing something as all I ever get is a completely black image, or a black image with one of the control spheres in it. Also, is it OK to rename saved scene files to something more meaningful. e.g. Missionary.jpg and Missionary.json. It seems to work OK but is there any downside to doing this ?

meshedvr

When you click save it pulls up a mini-dialog box (Save new, overwrite, cancel). Drag this using the menu button so it is facing the way you want to take screenshot, and then click the button. I might change this in future release where it prompts you to face the direction you want for the screenshot and then you just hit submit button to complete. You can rename them freely. When I implement community sharing feature I will prefix your username on front so you can have unique names in that system. I also plan to add renaming of saves within the app. I just needed to implement the text entry UI widget 1st: <a href="https://trello.com/c/Lw2CqHWw" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/Lw2CqHWw</a>

I added comments to a couple of cards on Trello. Btw, once I get a sense of how some of the basics work with linked grab points - though I know you mentioned you wanted to improve this - I'd be totally willing to start building a couple of tutorials. There are just some fundamentals to the interface I'm not quite getting yet. Like, I want one controller to be linked to a couple of linked female grab points, I want the visor to possess the guy's head, and maybe the other controller I could assign to another part of the female, the abdomen of the male or just leave free to operate the menu. I guess the simple version of this question is "How do you change points to Possess?" Right now when I click Possess, the possession points are always the two hands and the head of one character. How do I change those? Anyway, I mention this in one of the cards. Here's the card: <a href="https://trello.com/c/tO5VB9Yb" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/tO5VB9Yb</a>

And here's my card comment that addresses how you could satisfy those users who want create and then control multiple animations in one scene, which includes multiple speeds. Basically, the users should be able to create multiple animations that can be advanced with a button press. This idea is inspired by VR Kanojo. <a href="https://trello.com/c/ZZxIFkok" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/ZZxIFkok</a>

You have several options. You can change any node to be possessable or not by opening its UI in edit mode. The possessable checkbox is near the top. By default I made head, hands, and feet possessable. You can change this around however you like. The other option, which is probably easier, is to just use the toggle grab button. Move the controller near the joint or GrabPoint, click Toggle Grab button. That controller is now linked to the object without further input from you.

meshedvr

This can be a feature of the animation sequencer. <a href="https://trello.com/c/o0MzrSE7" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/o0MzrSE7</a> There is also another item I have not put into Trello yet but I have extensive plan for, and that is triggers. There will be various types of triggers, and the output of these can be many things, like play sound, start animation, advance animation to next section (what you are describing here), or many other things. This will be the beginning of the programmable logic I want this sim to have.

Found a possession bug. If 2 possession points are close to each other when you posses one, you posses both. When you "end possession" one of those 2 possession points will stay possessed forever.

meshedvr

Thank you for the report. Added card to fix for 1.2 release: <a href="https://trello.com/c/JFgM9Wm0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://trello.com/c/JFgM9Wm0</a>

Hi @MeshedVR I just became creator patron :) Do you use some sort of global illumination algo? I think it may increase the realism dramatically. Perhaps use SSGI. Make the skin looks even better.

meshedvr

Yes it uses global illumination in the shader already. It is dialed down pretty low by default. You can change global illumination in the scene options menu. Turn it all the way down and you will see just dynamic lighting. I don't currently have way to change the cubemap used for GI. Most SS effects don't work all that well in VR.

Hilarious idea! This is so awesome!<br>By the way, how do I make a suggestion to you on Trello? I've looked around but I can't seem to figure it out, sorry. &gt;_&lt;<br> EDIT: Oh, I see. I wasn't sure if just commenting counted as a suggestion. I thought I had to create a card/ticket or something. Thanks!

Hi, I would like to create a new episode with two girls. Any technical help directions would be gladly received. I would be a new experience for me. In the past life I worked with Archicad only.

meshedvr

For the main install, you can unzip Virt-A-Mate wherever you might want to "hide" the install. :) For the user scenes, there is a Saves folder inside the install dir. Most user-content scenes need to be unzipped into there.
