My Thanks to Mr. Bug for the question! This one was aimed at Kayden's mom as well, but that half will have to wait until I've had more of a chance to establish who she is and what she's about in the comic itself. She would have very high standards for her boy and I need her to be fleshed out enough for me to go into detail on the specifics, so we'll put a pin in that one for now. 

As for the strip itself, Sylvia was never meant to be my take on a "good" or "realistic" mother figure. I took more of a swing at that concept with Raina, but Sylvia is meant to be a porn parody of a mom through and through. That said, I like the idea that she knows enough about Casey to recognize what elements about her might be balanced out with the right partner. i.e. "You tend to tackle bitches who insult you, you need someone bigger than you to hold you back." Not addressing the real problem of Casey's outbursts and simply thinking in terms of physical solutions seems to me like exactly the kind of advice Sylvia would give.
