Patreon Pin Up 5/1/23: Bane and Huntress (Patreon)

Huntress crushes Batgirl in this month's Discord Poll! So here she is slacking off on duty with Bane. 

I have fairly limited familiarity with Huntress, myself. My general consensus is that she's usually presented as the member of the bat-family that no one else seems to like, approve of, or get along with. Too broody and antisocial for a team comprised entirely of brooding loners was what I took away. 

But again, my exposure is limited. I think the only Batman comic I ever read featuring her was the No Man's Land story, where Gotham gets devastated by an Earthquake and is declared basically John Carpenter's Escape From New York by the government. Batman temporarily disappears and Huntress attempts to take up the mantle in his absence. When confronted with the obvious "Isn't Batman supposed to be a MAN?" She responds with something like "Would YOU admit it if it was a woman in a bat suit that kicked your ass?" Which I thought was clever. 

I read this thing over ten years ago, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember when Batman finally did return, his evaluation of her time in his place was like "Nah bruh, you suck at this." Which I found funny because this is coming from a man who routinely dresses up literal children in small yellow capes to fight crime and sometimes they die from it. 

I also remember Huntress from the classic animated series, Justice League Unlimited.  With the benefit of decades of hindsight, that entire DC animated run, from Batman to Superman to Justice League, may be the most consistently timeless, high-quality animated content to ever come out of America, but I digress. Naturally Huntress was an instant pariah on that show too. If she can't fit in on a Batman team, she sure as shit isn't fitting in on a Superman team. I mean, get outta here. 

So my question is, what has Huntress been up to since? What's the modern version like? My version here is based on her Kotobukiya costume, what does she even look like now? Did she ever find a team that she could actually tolerate and be tolerated by? If you know, please fill me in with a comment!
