We decided to do 3 episodes this one time because the movie we filmed before hand was really short so we saved some time.

im sure its a matter of opinion, but unless people agree to start seeing other people, i believe it is an infidelity. people who hate skylar often cite this as the reason why she should be hated. its pretty obvious she did it to add conclusion and destroy his hopes of getting back together. the same people who hate skylar for this also hold walt up as a hero. when weighed, she slept with someone in order to hurt him.... he..... murdered people. you see the problem with these obvious misogynists. a woman stepping out beyond their control is unforgivable.

if you think about it, walt started lying episode 1 season 1. but yes, the flirtation seemed to start as a response to walts deception. i cant remember the specific spot, i just remember it being written that she started it because she was pushed far away by walt. it was started as response to her isolation.

Oh ffs, if you keep throwing around overused buzzwords like misogyny when they aren’t even remotely applicable, then they’ll lose all meaning. In a real world context, I do agree that it makes absolutely no sense to dislike Skyler while at the same time actively rooting for Walt, seeing as Walt is the obvious villain whereas Skyler is a victim, albeit a flawed one. But the reason people find themselves rooting for Walt within the context of a fictional TV series is because he’s the MAIN CHARACTER. It’s also due to Vince Gilligan’s brilliant writing. It’s not because the viewers hate women… lol. The viewer is *supposed* to feel conflicted about what they want for Walt. That’s the whole point. That’s why they (the writers) show us his entire character arc, all the way from the very beginning. I could elaborate further, but that might risk spoiling something for George and Simone if they happen to read this comment, so I’ll stop here. But to reiterate, I completely agree with almost everything you said, minus the misogyny angle.

It's genuinely refreshing to see you guys relate to Skylar's point of view in all of this compared to the past 10 years of fandom's weird complex they have with her. She's even recently been named as one of the top three "hated characters on television" in a poll of 175k voters, only just below GOT's Ramsey Bolton and Joffrey Baratheon. Madness. There was a phenomenon a while back called the "AMC Wife", where the wives of the main characters in a bunch of AMC shows (Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Mad Men) were just *hated* by the fanbases, seemingly because they acted as a foil to their husbands doing questionable things (each has their own flaws of course, it wasn't just because they interfered with the power fantasies and it's perfectly fine to simply not like a character, but the overall level vitriol was noticably higher around them than one would think was warranted)

It's funny that George picked the name "Betsy" for the RV seeing as that's the name of the actress who plays Marie :'D

I think its very understandable why people come to the conclusion of hating her. The show spends the first season justifying Walts actions and showing his reasons as to why he chose to go this way. And from the start (literally the first scene) he over and over says how much he loves her and his family. Then she starts suspecting something is going on and becomes increasingly hostile towards him. And she has very good reasons for that if you look at what she knows and how Walt behaves towards her. But thats the problem, the audience knows more than her. They see a father/husband dying of cancer who wants to do a last try to provide for his family after feeling like he failed them all his life. And then she starts villainizing him for that. Makes a lot of sense to me why people find that annoying. Also Skylars actress is very good at portraying the "bitchy", entitled houswife so she makes it very easy to be hated if that makes sense. Of course all of that isnt really relevant because in her position it is very justified to hate Walt. I mean he is a straight up murderer at this point and did some awful things. But its very easy to forget that she knows nothing about all of what he did. Or rather its hard to put yourself into her shoes after having Walts struggles and motivations be the main plot of the show for so long. Another maybe minor thing I think is that the audience may be relatively young and think that what walt does is badass and interesting and she is just causing problems. Also for someone young you are not very used to a villain protagonist as most child/adolescent movies and shows have a hero protagonist. So you naturally accept Walts actions more than Skylars. At least thats what happened with me I think. When I first watched this show at like 13 or so, I was very annoyed with her too. Now watching this 12 years later, I can empathize with her a lot more and can see why she is understandibly hostile towards him. Anyway sorry for the rant lol

The non complex part about cheating is that marriage isn't just a relationship it's an agreement. so "infidelity" still applies even if only one party is "done" emotionally. there is obviously a socially acceptable element to this but on paper and in the one parties mind it isn't. imagine if skyler did the same thing but her only reasoning for leaving was boredom. don't justify her wrong actions just because walt did something terrible to set her off. two wrontgs dont make a right or whatever lol

While I understand Simone's fondness for Jesse, I can't agree that Walter would've been nowhere without him. He essentially was just a narrative portal into the drug world, and Walter is the unique character. Now, I do believe it would have been a lesser show without Jesse, and that's a testament to Aaron Paul and the writers.

Skylar be like "We were on a break!"

it's still 100 percent cheating

I actually really love the cops in episode 3. As someone in that line of work, I feel like the portrayal was so good. As a cop, you'd definitely be thinking "There's a reason for this that I'm not seeing. Something's not being said." and investigating that, the way he did was a really great example.
