I see some comments about the Wayans Brothers show but even before that was In Living Color, it was the sketch show that helped launch the careers of both Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx. Keenan Ivory Wayans was the show creator and it also starred his brothers Damon, Marlon, and Shawn, and sister Kim, the teacher with the baby in the beginning of the movie was also on the show. Tommy Davidson was on the show too, he was the crazy little guy Ace had to fight in When Nature Calls. I'm not sure how well the skits have aged but you can find some of them on YouTube (I still think they're funny). Jim Carrey had been in a few movies before the show but I remember he was the big standout, and that's when he started landing movies like Ace Ventura, and the rest is history.

I'm really happy that you both enjoyed this! hahaha, so many references from ages ago. Obviously some went over your heads. lmao, the first reference that ya'll missed was from Dawson's Creek. I didn't pay attention to most everything else - at least enough to remember them individually. This movie was HILARIOUS back in the day. xD hahahaha, good fucking times!

The drug dealing dad who was hog-tied was played by Rick Ducommun who was a Canadian character actor and he’s been in a bunch of movies like Space Balls, Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October, Groundhog Day, Last Action Hero and others. He’s probably best known for “The ‘Burbs” in which he has a large role alongside Tom Hanks. Definitely check out “The ‘Burbs” from 1989! Very weird, funny movie. Sadly, he died at the age of 62 in 2015.

I've lived my whole life never seeing this film because I suspected it was trash. sigh Now I'm certain. I laughed once when the guy elbow dropped the girl for no reason, so I'll continue patreonising, but it was close.
