Anyone interested in a documentary with excellent footage of real atomic tests, on land, air and in space, check out “Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bond Movie” from 1995 directed by Peter Kuran and narrated by William Shatner.

Fun fact: the use of black-and-white to denote the future was also used by Breaking Bad during season 2's cold opens.

Fitting intro. Robert Pattinson is actually big reason why this movie got made. He gifted Nolan a book about Oppenheimer after making Tenet.

Even today there are so many complex concepts of the project even the town name is wrong. Los Alamos is an unincorporated town that existed and grew near the base. The base had both several names and none including trinity which is on the overall base lands. Today the whole area is a national park but security is still high and is only open to the public on a very limited bases.

Loved your reaction. Watched along with my own first viewing. I was a bit hesitant on Nolan being able to keep this interesting for 3hrs, but it was suprisingly captivating all the way through. An interesting follow up to this movie would be "Thirteen Days" (2000) about the cuban missile crisis. Basically continues the story in regards to US vs Russia, nuclear bombs and JFK, who got the shoutout at the end.
