I'm a little sad, that they skipped the kinda weird psychedelic part at the end. But I guess that would be hard to put into a movie. And yes the movie was kind of long at some points, but the book is so massive they still left a lot out besides the ending. Also now that I see James McAvoy, I hope you guys will do the Split trilogy soon. Great movie and he is incredible in them.

I'm not sure I can sit through this disappointment again. The actors did well with the material they had, but the CGI was really poor for 2019, every action scene was just something jumping towards the camera and the pacing kinda felt all over the place. I loved the first movie and didn't think they could go wrong if they just went in with the same mindset... I wonder what happened.

Little fun fact, when they introduce Ben as an adult, the man standing and speaking in the conference room is the actor who played young Ben in the TV miniseries. And I'm sure someone already mentioned it but the actor who played Eddie was Ziggy from The Wire, easy to miss that because he was really good in this, a totally different type or character, he's also really good in Generation Kill (with Alexander Skarsgard). Oh, and George noticed that the spider/head thing looked just like in The Thing, but not sure if he noticed Bill Hader says exactly the same line as the actor in The Thing when they see it trying to walk out of the room, "You gotta be fucking kidding." I've probably recommended it before but Doctor Sleep is also a really good sequel.

So the turtle standing out in the classroom was actually part of the series of jokes about people hating the ending of the book It, because the opposing force guiding the kids against Pennywise is, and I shit you not, a mythical Xuanwu.

Enjoyed the reaction! Regarding some of your comments about the bullies and people being evil, it's actually an underlying theme in all of King's books that it's evil people like that (and the ones who turn away and refuse to help or intervene when they can) who are the real monsters. I agree with a comment above that the TV miniseries would probably not hold up well for you after watching these movies, but I really like it, too. It follows the book a lot closer as far as plot. I actually watched it when it aired on TV, and it probably had more impact at the time because most of the actors were famous and at the top of their careers at the time. I'm pretty sure It #2 was not given a go until after the first movie did well in the theaters. I'm sure they had adult actors in mind, but they were not officially cast until then. I love that Bill Hader got the part because of the young actor for Ritchie, Finn Wolfhard. When they asked him who he would want to play the adult version of his character, he didn't hesitate, immediately said Bill Hader, and so they contacted Hader to see if he would do it. It's worth looking up some of the interviews with Bill Hader when the movie came out, really funny and interesting how he talked about it all. One thing I do really prefer in the book and the miniseries is that the story is interwoven the whole time between the past and the present. You learn what really happened in the past only in bits and pieces while following the story in the present. It just adds to the suspense and makes the story flow better to me.

There is a Stephen King Multiverse. Some universes are post apocalyptic like "Cell", "The Mist", or "The Stand"...otherwise most of Stephen King's stories are set in the same universe. For example...the town Derry, Maine is also the main setting for the novel "Dreamcatcher"...the town Jerusalem's Lot, Maine is also the setting for the short story of the same name & the novel "Salem's Lot"...the town Castle Rock, Maine is the setting for novella "The Body" (aka the movie "Stand By Me" tho the movie changed the state from Maine to Oregon) and novels "The Dead Zone", "Cujo" (Simone ought to enjoy that 1 mwa ha ha 🐶), "The Dark Half", & "Needful Things". The main universe has King's works reference each other. Like "Dreamcatcher" has a scene where there's graffiti somewhere in Derry that says "Pennywise Lives"....In "The Body" (aka "Stand By Me") the boys talk a bit about Shawshank Prison...In "It", Mike's grandpa knew cook Dick Halloran from "The Shining"...In "Misery" Annie Wilkes even references "a guy who went crazy at the Overlook Hotel" obviously being "The Shining". Apparently most children in King's world has some form of The Shining in 1 way or another, and this is true for all members of The Losers Club. It's believed that Stanley was the most scared because his Shining may have been stronger than the others' so he got more emotional input clashing with his skeptical personality.
