The director wrote Back to the Future, because he saw an old yearbook of his dad's, and wonder if he would have been friends with his dad in high school.

To follow this movie's own time travel logic, when Doc takes Marty and Jennifer to the future at the end, their kids should not exist in 2015 because Marty and Jennifer would have been missing from the timeline for 30 years when they arrive in the future. But that's just a time travel plot hole that gets magnified in the sequel!

If I were George. I'd be little suspicious after realizing his son looks identical to the guy his wife had an obsession with in high school!

Remember.....time travel isn't actually possible (as far as we currently know) so with that being said, anyone can make any rules to time travel for a movie they want. So many movies have their own rules including the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

True, memory is weird, it's a fact that any two or more people who claim remember to the same event etc, will all tell a slightly different story, which will diverge more as time goes on. Is that enough to explain why Lorraine and George haven't noticed that their son was their old pal Calvin "Marty" Klein? No, but, I imagine George maybe brought it up, but then Lorraine was like, "oh yeah but you also saw an alien who almost melted your brain if you didn't ask me out, so..." And she totally purged that memory because, if that had happened, she'd have to reconcile with the fact that she totally wanted to ___ her son.

For those who haven't seen the sequels don't read on, SPOILERS... and another plot hole with part 2 is old Biff returning to the same 2015 future he left rather than the one where he's wealthy, and in part 3 there would be two time machines in 1885: the one Doc arrived in which he placed in a cave and the one Marty arrives in. They could use the cave one for spare parts (Mr. Fusion) to repair Marty's one to travel back with... also at the end once Buford 'Mad Dog' Tannen is arrested there's no longer the need for Doc and Marty to catch the train with such urgency. Given that Doc will no longer be shot and killed, they could just wait a week to hijack the next train.
