I just told my husband (who does not like musicals) what this show was about. Like many stories far outside his wheelhouse that I tell him about, this one provoked complete sputtering bafflement. Which is all I wanted. Love Musical Hell's take on this one, but yours is the one we need.

When I saw the show live, the actor who plays Meg forgot the gun in the final scene and a stagehand had to run out onstage and give it to her. I have NEVER felt my soul leave my body like that. AMAZING video Lindsay!!

Love Never Dies is a lot like The Cursed Child to in terms of feeling like the person the author hired to write it is used the fanfiction version of the original characters rather than the original characters themselves. Love Never Dies is a little more enjoyable, though.
