So I'm almost done with the next episode (it ended up being Queen Elizabeth I - surprised? Me too. I thought Hitler was a shoo-in!) For February I was thinking the theme should be "starcrossed lovers" (Romeo/Juliet, Cathy/Heathcliff, Cleopatra/Antony) but when I joked about doing a full length review on everything wrong with Phantom of the Opera (2004), that one got a lot of interest. But for what I have in mind it would take a lot of time and effort (like I said, it would be a long'n) - so I leave it to you - would you rather have a traditional, romance-themed episode for February, or would you rather have me verbally eviscerate Joel Schumacher for an hour?

PHANTOM PLEASE. I know you'll do us proud.

Anonymous

I'm weak. I need ripping apart the Phantom movie.

Anonymous

Schumacher!

Anonymous

Schumacher. It feels like it could be something special.

Anonymous

Phantom for sure! The "star-crossed lovers" concept could make for a good episode but perhaps that can be shelved for another time.

Anonymous

Schumacher

Anonymous

I really like the star-crossed lovers idea (I especially would be interested in your take on Cathy/Heathcliff given how Twilight and YA and in general seems to have latched onto it) but I think you're more passionate about the Phantom so I say go for it!

Piper Malone

Star Crossed loves are great any time of the year roasting Schumacher is a pleasure that should be savored so I beg of you to do this long involved roast

Anonymous

Phantom

Jubei

Yeah, I want to see you rip Schumacher a new one after all!

Anonymous

Well you could do both kinda with Phantom/Christine and the romantic elements focusing on how Schumacher got everything wrong lol

Anonymous

Phantom

Jack Holmes

You had me at "eviscerate Joel Schumacher."

Anonymous

Schumacher!

Anonymous

Schumacher must die.

Anonymous

Schumacher, obviously! (And I like the movie a lot more than you!)

Anonymous

I'm going to break the combo: I think focusing on star-crossed lovers would be nice and thematic, considering the month.

Anonymous

Gotta vote for Schumacher. For every movie 'innovation' that worked well (like the opening sequence with the damage to the Opera House disappearing) there's stuff like the flashback scene of the Romani carnies screaming about "MUUUUUHHHH-DUUUUUH".

Anonymous

I was up for the "starcrossed lovers" theme up until you said, "eviscerate Joel Schumacher." Then I realized that I still hold a truly silly amount of anger at him for Batman Forever. I hated it so much that I didn't even bother with Batman & Robin. I can't believe that I'm still this upset after 20 years. Anyway, go with whichever feels like the most fun to you.

Anonymous

Full length Phantom review, if only to hear how many ways you can come up with to describe Butler's embarrassing singing and unconvincing deformity.

Anonymous

schumaker, clearly.

Anonymous

EVISCERATE

Anonymous

i have to say schumaker, bc it's been too long with a movie review from you and also I love watching entertaining people rant about things that honestly annoy them

Anonymous

i would like the romance themed episode for feb.

Anonymous

Another vote for Schumacher.

Anonymous

Romance themed for sure. We have already had a lot of phantom.

Joe G

The fastest way to my heart, is tearing out Schumacher's. :)

Anonymous

I love both ideas, so I do think whichever one loses should sort of go on the shelf for later, but I'm voting Star Crossed for this time.

Anonymous

Evisceration! Make it Red Letter Media length! I want to feel your hatred. It gives you focus.

Anonymous

Your choice of vocabularly intrigues me. I do love a good ol' evisceration! However "star-crossed lovers" would also be interesting! Goodness gracious, if I MUST choose, Star-Crossed Lovers gets my vote!

Anonymous

I actually rather liked the 2004 Phantom so I would love to see somebody who didn't giving it a full review.

JazzWolf

The verbal evisceration! I would love to see you rip apart that movie!

Lauren R

I would watch an entire series devoted to you talking about Phantom.

Anonymous

I'd rather see you run Schumacher into the ground.

Anonymous

I definitely thinking watching you run Schumacher into the ground would be amazing

Anonymous

Schumacher needs to get the ol' punjab lasso. I vote for 2004 movie evisceration

Anonymous

Schumacher beyond a doubt. I love long reviews, and a long review of THAT pile of crap? I need it in my life yesterday.

Anonymous

Please please please do a full Phantom of the Opera. I love what you've said of it before in old episodes and it's so entertaining! Please!

Anonymous

I kinda wanna see you eviscerate Joel Schumacher. Make it multiple parts to make sure that you get compensated for your time and effort appropriately. <3

Anonymous

Definitely Phantom! For all the years we've known you, and Nella, and Lisa were obsessed with Phantom, you never really talked about it. I know I've wanted you talk about this for years... Please tear Schumacher a new one!

Anonymous

Eviscerate Joel Schumacher! Eviscerate Joel Schumacher! But would love to see a starcrossed lovers episode in the future anyway.

Anonymous

A Schumacher roasting sounds good. The Starcrossed lovers episode sounds like a good idea. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the Baz Luhrmann version of Romeo and Juliet.

Anonymous

I would absolutely love to see an evisceration!

Delbert Sparks

Eviscerate Joel Schumacher!

Anonymous

Phantom, no question. That film deserves as much hate as you can give it

Anonymous

Let's see - would I rather be reminded of my loneliness and desperation or delight in the suffering of others? Phantom.

lithium_green

What better way to celebrate the month of romance and Black History than ripping one of the worst directors of all time? After all, the more you hate something, the more you truly love it... and you LOVE Schumacher!

Anonymous

Schumacher without a doubt. After destroying Batman you'd think he'd done enough. But no, he had to destroy the Phantom as well. Show him no mercy!

Anonymous

Phantom for sure. I've always liked your breakdowns of why movies don't work.

Anonymous

SCHUMACHER!

Anonymous

Phantom!!

Don Bright

1 vote for Star Crossed Lovers, ... lol looks like the comments want blood so it probably won't happen. But... it makes me wonder have you ever done anything on Bollywood?

Anonymous

I'd love if you did a full Phantom episode!

Anonymous

Starcrossed lovers for me. There are other youtube channels that do the whole 'everything wrong with' so I'd rather see traditional style video.

Anonymous

I gotta go with Star Crossed Lovers myself! But I'd be cool with whichever wins

Anonymous

Joe Schumacher all the way.

Anonymous

Oh please 2004.

Anonymous

2004 Phantom please because Gerard Butler's "singing" gives me life.

Anonymous

Schumacher please :)

Anonymous

seeing as how it's the season of love in february, i would "love" if you would verbally eviscerate Joeh Schumacher. speaking of, i hear that anne hathaway was going to be christine, but she had to film princess diaries 2. i struggle to decide which was the better idea.

Anonymous

Either is fine! Make the one you're feeling the most.

Anonymous

Verbal evisceration of the Schumacher (history's greatest monster).

Anonymous

Gerard Butler is staring in a February movie anyway, so yes, on with the eviscerating!

Anonymous

2004 Phantom pleeeaaase. I'd love to see you destroy it.

Anonymous

phantom please, I love your new style, but I can't lie, I occasionally miss an original film review once in a while

Anonymous

phantom! its so fun to see you dive into something we know your knowledgeable/passionate about (and you know if you want to do the 30 hour long series on all things phantom that would be cool too)

Anonymous

I'd honestly be fine with either, but seeing as the 2004 film literally made me hate everything to do with Phantom for years (I only actually came around to it when my grandmother basically browbeat me into listening to her double LP of the original London cast recording - Sarah Brightman and Micheal Crawford are the best damn thing, I swear) I say tear it apart, for justice, for vengeance, for Valhalla.

Paul Grodt

I feel like there is some bias in the wording of your question, but I am quite alright with it because I agree with said-bias. I am a massive fan of in-depth critiques, and despite the growing popularity of that genre (thank you Mr. Plinkett), Schumacher has not be lambasted nearly enough. I bet you'd do a spectacular job with an idea like that! Plus, I am a massive sucker for geeky music-reference type jokes; so, the more opportunity for that sort of thing the better!

Paul Grodt

I want to add, reading these comments, I friggin' love Lindsay's fellow patreons. I feel very at home here :)

Anonymous

Phantom being dragged by your cutting critique sounds like it would be too good a thing to say no to! But if you're looking for an opportunity to work T-Hard into another video, a 2015 Best and Worst run down is my real request. Pretty please before the Oscars with sugar on top!

Anonymous

She mentioned a Bollywood film in her Guilty Pleasures video.

Anonymous

Let's see, 2004 Phantom movie most people hate, while 2013 Romeo and Juliet most people hate. I'd be down for either one.

Anonymous

EVISCERATE SCHUMACHER. No competition.

Kyle Williams

I'd be up for a Schumacher retrospective. Since his Batman films have been analyzed to death it would be great if you didn't overemphasize them though. Save room for his other work. Falling Down would be an interesting one to talk about given the current popularity of Trump.

Anonymous

I'd love to see an hour- long evisceration of phantom! Or an hour long evisceration of rent - do mimi and roger count as star crossed lovers?

Anonymous

I say tear apart Phantom of the Opera 2004 as well. It'll be so much fun.

Anonymous

Oh man, I'd love the star-crossed lovers myself...

Rebecca Richards

Nothing is more romantic to me than Joel Schumacher getting destroyed.

Anonymous

Tear Schumacher apart. Thats how I want to spend my Valentines day.

Anonymous

CLEARLY TEARING SCHUMACHER FOR AN HOUR. We as a society need this.

Anonymous

Schumacher must suffer!;)

Anonymous

As much as I love the premise for an episode on star-crossed lovers throughout the ages, I think that watching you verbally eviscerate Schumacher and his version of Phantom would be fabulous, Lindsay. Go with whatever your heart is in and what you have the most material for, we'll watch it any way :-).

Anonymous

EVICERATE HIM! I DON"T CARE IF IT TAKES TWO HOURS!

Anonymous

I'm a big fan of theme and holiday episodes but....I know when I've lost. ;)

Anonymous

+1 for evisceration.

Chelsea Monk

If you will do the Phantom episode anyway, then maybe the romance episode, if not I want to see Schumacher's Phantom ripped to shreds!

Anonymous

I mean I'd love to see you talk about how Cathy and Heathcliff have inspired a lot of literature's romanticized abusive couples but... evisceration. Even if I don't know how much of a Loose Canon episode this will really be.

Anonymous

I mean, I'd probably learn more from a typical Loose Canon episode.

Anonymous

I'm kinda all for the evisceration.

Robin Isomaa

I'd like to see you go full anti-romantic. Since it's February and cold, why not do a minisode on "Women in Refridgerators" (if you ask Kyle, Shakespeare invented that)?

Anonymous

Down with Batnips and Unsexy Phantoms! Though the statcrossed lovers idea sounds fun too... Maybe next time. 😙

Anonymous

I knew it before I came here. To be honest the outcome was obvious. Take down Schumacher

Cailey Tervo

Please destroy Schumacher haha.

Anonymous

Schumacher and the bad sunburn, please.

Anonymous

Schumacher please! I love that terribly flawed movie.

Anonymous

That's a good question. I am totally down with either. Though, I am totally down with the evisceration!!!

Anonymous

Star Crossed Lovers sounds like a good way to go. I'd like to see that :)

Anonymous

Make it a romance themed episode.

Anonymous

Phantom of the Opera.

Anonymous

Schumacher destruction would be great

Anonymous

Romance themed episode!

Anonymous

DOWN WITH SCHUMACHER!!!!

TalysAlankil

Horribly torn, but I'll go with the romance theme because I've seen enough reviews of that movie already.

Anonymous

I'd lean towards the romance theme.

Anonymous

Schumacher! I know you would give it your all.

Alex Androski

I feel like Joel Schumacher's Batman films are underrated and unfairly maligned... and I still want to see the anti-Schumacher hit piece.

Anonymous

You have to ask? Who doesn't love a good evisceration?

Anonymous

Romance-themed episode!

Anonymous

Schumacher of course!

Anonymous

As much as I love a good terrible movie evisceration, I'm a sucker for people doing foolish things when motivated by their genitals.

Anonymous

Schumacher, please!

Anonymous

Definitely Phantom follow up. Schumacher is such a curious director and since reviewers openly used Batman references it is hard to believe it got a balanced assessment at its release.

Anonymous

I would love to see a Phantom rant. I laughed so hard about the last one, and could definitely go for a full-on deconstruction of why it doesn't work. Gleefully hoping that wins out!

Anonymous

I'd vote for a full-length Phantom rant. But I would definitely love to see an examination of the different presentations of Romeo & Juliet at some future point.

Isuvviaraq

Even though I voted for Lizzy I as well, I was still surprised to see her win. I guess my own thought process in voting was, YES Hitler would make a very interesting video and I definitely want to see him, but Queen Elizabeth would have a lot of material and research to do, and all in all would probably be a lot more compelling. I just figured it would make for a better video.

Anonymous

Both episode ideas sound awesome, but I'd love to see Phantom torn apart. I enjoy the musical, but the 2004 movie is simply baffling.

Anonymous

I'm more familiar with R&J, I've only ever seen the 2004 version of Phantom, once, in like 2006. So the bard's irony that is taken seriously gets my vote. (Is there an official poll?) imho, anything you care passionately about makes a great episode. =p

Anonymous

Romance themed episode

Anonymous

Never bothered with that train wreak.

Matthew Dunne

I vote for eviscerating the movie.

Jared Walske

The 2004 Phantom movie looks like it's up their with Tom Hooper's Les Miz as far as "bafflingly inept adaptations of stage musicals" go and I'd love to see you break down just how much of a mess it is.

Anonymous

Eviceration x 60 minuntes = ftw.

Anonymous

Totally torn, and as much as I'd love to see a romance themed episode - I cannot let go the opportunity to see you rip apart Schumacher's PotO, which I guess answers that question.

Anonymous

Irrelevent (but KEEN AS A BEEN) for the Elizabeth video. Unsure if you've seen this version of the Lorax. I recall the distaste (however, that simply could be a character you've playing) I find this verison of 'how bad can I be' to be far more.... Explicit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJiOD0UBtrA

Anonymous

Evisection for sure; feburary is the month of love. You do love your fans, right? :) (no-hetero)

Anonymous

Let'em have it!

Anonymous

Evisceration of Joel Schumacher. YES.

Anonymous

The latter, please! :D

Anonymous

Let 'im have it.

Anonymous

Schumacher

Mel Vitta

As much as I would enjoy a Nostalgia Chick style rant against Schumacher for being a tool, I'm interested in your "starcrossed lovers" theme. Would fans be unwilling to wait maybe until March for Joel's undressing? Put my vote down for the former but with the possibility of returning PotO 2004 at a later date.

Anonymous

I'd prefer you do the "Star Crossed Lovers" thing just for the sake of seeing something different. Schumacher ranting can be found in many places, but you don't see many videos about how truly sour a supposedly beautiful love can be. (Unless you're talking about sparkly vampires - yuck.)
