This is definitely one of MY favorite episodes! Also, if you really think about it.... would Pitou even know who Kite IS? It's not like she asked for his name, or paid attention to the kids in the background (if Gon even said his name by the time she got there, which I don't think he did. Pretty sure he just screamed) When you frame it like that, it's clear Pitou doesn't even know who the hell this Kite guy is, but she figures she can probably heal him, whatever the problem is. She might've agreed even if she knew who he was talking about, but currently, she isn't even aware how bad this is.

Yeah, Pitou was just desperate. I honestly think as long as the person was actually heal able, Pitou would keep her word and heal them. I also dont think Pitou would have have been so on guard on protective if Gon wasnt being so bloodthirsty, though she defin. would still have been so. Though I completely understand where Gon is coming from, esp. when u understand his character, still pretty uncalled for the stuff he is doing and saying but I understand why. In all honesty I just feel bad for everyone this episode: Killua, Gon, Pitou, Komugi. Also, defin. one of my fav. episodes too, its just so good, though I basically like none of the stuff actually going on in this episode, esp. the stuff between Killua and Gon, and Gon almost killing Komugi, I know Gon didnt want to kill Komugi, just Pitou, but if Gon had gone through with what he wanted to do against Pitou, yep Komugi could have and probably would have died. basically this episode hurts my soul and makes me unconformable, but I still love it.

This is the episode where I really understood Gon as a character let’s all collectively praise Megumi Han

According to an interview, Togashi originally wanted Gon to be a regular shounen hero, but got bored with that idea after he started. He realised that a kid who would abandon his foster mother for the sake of a Hunter exam is not really going to have a regular mental make up anyways. I can't find the link for it again, but it's the 2018 interview.

Remember this part of Gon has always existed. -In episode 2, we know Gon always asks the real questions and isn't afraid to confront harsh realities. -In episode 5 after fighting Hisoka, Kurapika noted how Gon's actually kindred spirits with Hisoka in a twisted way. -In episode 16, we saw Gon sulk in the same way he did after the defeat by Knuckle. -In Heaven's Arena, Wing noted Gon's ridiculous recklessness -In episode 48, the appraiser mentioned Gon's dangerous concept of morality. He doesn't care what's wrong, but only what interests him. -In episode 63, Biscuit said Gon's flawless nature would be his downfall -Most importantly, Gon's someone who always prioritises his own needs over morality.

This whole episode is so perfect. After having made the main character wait in denial for 31 episodes for his revenge Togashi pulls the cruel rug from under him. He comes to kill the "monster" that killed his mentor but he instead finds a person not a monster. A person willing to do whatever it takes to protect someone who's important to someone important to her. After 31 episodes Togashi takes away the satisfaction of revenge. Truly there is no satisfaction in it. Revenge isn't something to glorify but really a sad cycle. This 12 year old boy has been swallowed by grief and anger. Gon and Killua have totally swapped places on the spectrum of light and darkness. Another interesting thing about this episode is that you can hear the exact moment Gon rips out Killua's heart with words. "It means nothing to you" Oooof

Yeah, that one line to Killua, even Gon had a hard time saying it, but he still said it anyway, and quite deliberately. You could tell right away those words cut deep, and they couldn't be farther from the truth because out of anyone, Killua is probably the one who cares the most because of what Gon has meant to him personally. Everything about this episode was off the charts, the animation, the VAs, the raw emotion and tension. It's been building up to this for so many episodes
