I'm really not sure since I don't know Korean, but re Gwen and Hugo's wanting the "boo" to have fuller "U" sound, perhaps the "u" in Korean is more of an umlaut sound as in German "ü". Anyone else know if that's the case?

Yes, I understood, but I was thinking there could be an alternate explanation as well. To my ears when the other members also sing "boo" it doesn't sound like the typical long vowel in U.S. English. I've also noticed this in the word "you". When sung by Koreans it sounds like a short "u" sound rather than the longer sound we normally use.
