So at first, like Kev I liked the mixing (mostly cause the tom-tom beat was bought "forward") But then I listened to the M/V a couple of times. So the rap part, to me, is mixed the best again mostly for the drums. And the fact that the drumlines he was playing were more complex and differing than most other Day6 songs I've heard. (But I don't know a lot of their repertoire). In the rap there was the repeated short "military snare like" sample? And he played a section with the tom a bit delayed for a variety in syncopation. The cymbals/high-hat do seem to be MIA, which isn't a huge deal you can hear them at times but it's like they thought well the tom is highlighted so let's ignore them? Also the bass in the rap is more "present" and concise for a better rhythm/beat that off-set the drums. In a fair amount of the song the bass is muddled/indistinct (the verses). I'm thinking that they were going for a kind of "wall of sound" sound in certain sections, and I wasn't a big fan of that. I think longer "instrumental" reliefs would have matched the song better. I really do like the song but it does seem that the mixing could be "hiding" some of their talents. I should review and listen to more of their stuff before I say this but I'm pretty sure I've thought this before and what the hell? I think the drummer does seem to be the weakest player? What did he sound like live?

Very true. Hmmmm I don't remember hearing anything out of sort live- he was good!! I think the pop-y mixing/mastering ruins their songs. JYP's mixing/mastering engineer seems to be getting better, but still.....
