Let's goooooooo

shinjukupickpocket

Hard to hate the guy when he's honest enough to see himself in the kids

nicklaus4444

First is too hard anymore channel 5 exploded

Jack Stein

What’s goood

ari levin

andrew you continue to inspire me and how i want to show up in the world

RAS

What a delight. Great job Andrew and the crew!

miles_mena3

During this series I wasn’t convinced that what Kevin Morose was doing was valuable but his backstory certainly adds credibility.

Eli Brown

Just finished the other episodes, great timing

Brian Sanford

Great one AC. Respect the work.

Mike

Yussssss

Zia Hassan

Luv the new Drew

Isaac McGrgeor

I support the Kia boys and their endeavors. I pray they don’t wrap the cars around a tree at speed and I hope they will one day live a long enough experienced life that they can raise their kids and see them grow and teach them how to be better. Godspeed young men and I hope your adventures do not land you in the prison complex. I pray for you. All of you. And the people reading this too. Stay safe all.

ThugDaddy

I could watch channel 5 55 hours a day on hood

Joseph

plug a lil cringe but he chill tho

Erik Duethman

Worst C5 rapper thus far

Tendaji X

"Klansman" rap is wild lmfao. But for real, where are the adults? A lot of people say we should try to guide kids via the school system, but not only are there limits to a school's authority and resources, there are also no adults to get the kids into school in the first place.

J G Wentworth

"Fuck him and his birthday" I haven't heard that one yet🤣🤣🤣

Thomas Newton

Dude I have been completely enthralled by this story

Wylcey Keep

Wow this whole series is nuts. Stay fearless channel 5 on top. Only thoughts I wish we got a police interview and perspective on all this. Very curious how they view the theft situation, why they don't park up around Kia boys hood to recover cars, and how they feel about Kevin's vigilantism. Is his footage actually useful?

Wylcey Keep

Nah they all going to jail once they're past age. Coming in with juvi priors going to be tough.

Hudson Wood

andrew is a fucking legend, the fact he’s documenting high speed chases 😂

OrangeHootie

When are we getting the last episode of Ocean City? I know it’s less serious but it’s a really interesting addition to the rest of the content you’ve been putting out lately

radaghast420

Wild one. Thanks for all you do. Best patreon page out there

Lucas Mahoney

Great way to end things with Kevins interview. If only the kia boys would hear him out, maybe things would be different

Matt Rusch

The perspective flip was awesome. Nice work

AverageAtom

The patreon would be worth much more to me if it gave us all parts of series at once. I always wait to watch any of them until the final is released, because the cuts are always at frustrating points. Good for click bait and views, but that’s it. Good for YouTube. Bad for patreon. Good day sir.

Wylcey Keep

I'm pretty sure they post vids up as they're editing and making that, like early release final cut doesn't exist yet

AverageAtom

Yeah I get that. It’s not a problem, just an opinion from a fan. I’d be willing to wait but most probably aren’t.

NTM

Haha the cut to Kissinger was great, nice editing

Wylcey Keep

Gotcha, yeah I like seeing before it's hitting YouTube no point delaying because it's not completed yet. But I can see just watching the finish product too, it's complete, but in that case you right just keep waiting for final cut heh

Jeff Tuseth

Kevin seems like 50% of cops out there... Even though they were once delinquents they have this "Need" to get the "Bad" guy... Even though what these kids really need is some love and attention from someone they look up to. Hopefully they live long enough to see the error in their ways and can turn it around.

Mikey West

Good shit, Andrew. Thanks for always giving people a chance to demonstrate their humanity.

Clare McKernan

andrew plz ocean city streets

Jack Shufelt

Brother they’re stealing cars and selling them to guys that go commit robberies and murders there’s gonna be some punishment before they have that option

Nolan P

great work as always but man fuck you man.

Jeff Tuseth

My thoughts were to proactively steer them away from crime. Kevin could be relating to these guys, meeting them at their level, like Andrew. Instead of rising above them and trying to be the "Law"

Adam baba

Favorite series yet

rose

andrew plz stop wit da moralizing commentary.... bit of a tipper gore vibe

leastbad

Yeah, what @Wylcey Keep said... you're subscribed to a patreon that promises to let you see cuts of the videos as they come out, before other people do. If this doesn't work for you, why not just wait and watch them on YouTube?

SammieTalls

Oh snap, I have to finish the DARE series. I'm not sure how you're going to clean this one up for YT, but I have faith. Vegas Tunnels is still all over my YT feed.

Josh Gavin

I think it’s exciting and worth it to stay because they drip it out. It’s like Christmas when a new one drops

AverageAtom

Yep I get all that. I’m not making an argument here, just a comment. I’m here to get around YouTube censors, not for early releases. But I get it, and I’m not trying to convince anyone here.

Ocean

Kids need a strong male role model or they end up doing this stuff, I was the same. Stealing, breaking into places or cars for no reason, just generally causing shit. Pair that with the insanity of modern suburban/African american culture that glorifies this crazy self destructive behaviour and it's clear that these kids never had a chance. It's pretty damn hard to learn how to be a decent person with nobody decent enough to show you how.

Ken

Amazing work guys! So much respect.

Sierra

Great work!!!!!

jaylyn a

thank you for this story. Love the question for kevin at the end, he'd be exactly where the kia boyz are

Pat

He may be a cornball but the bro Kevin inspires me to focus on growth and sobriety. I’m tired of underperforming and underserving myself and my community and family by focusing on what I want / what’s gonna make me feel better in the moment. Thank you AC and Channel 5 for inspiring me to not be a Custer. Fuck the authority

NDR924

I think Kevin just likes to feel like Batman In those suburbs/ghettos like Trumbull Gardens, are there any shops or just anyone that could be interviewed to gain more understanding of what it is to live in this places?

Smooches Produces

Honestly, felt a similar response to the interviews with bill from the D.A.R.E program. I absolutely gained a lot more respect for his attempts

Michael Pelletier

Great series about my home state bud I don’t live in that area. Seems worse then Hartford tbh

Splinter

Love it man, thank you for doing these awesome documinis

Bryan R

we dont talk to 12 (but yeah that mightve been interesting)

Wylcey Keep

Didn't they just interview a whole conference hall of dare officers hah

Jason Matthew

When I was staying in Windsor, CT every few weekends at about 9-11 on Saturday I’d hear engines revving and tires squealing from the shopping center next door. I eventually went to check it out and cars were burning out in the parking lot with a ring of people dangerously close. This would go on for about 30 minutes to an hour before cops showed up. A lot of the modified cars would take off speeding as the cops would pin other cars in. Not sure what they could really arrest anyone for though. And it was like 4 cop cars vs 75 others. This whole series I kept wondering if these groups were linked as someone I talked to said these gatherings bounced all over CT with meetups spread on Telegram.

CreeFromEugene

I used to live in Connecticut. Not shit to do there. Not surprised these (yutes) are doing this. Do I support it, No.Do I understand it , absolutely.

John Carey

This was a great series. You are able to drum up some amazing insight from your ethnography. A true street sociologist at work!

Kodey Armstrong

i loved the ending bro, your ability to find common ground is insane

CruzingUSA

Gpass for life

Ricky

I live in New Haven county and this shit is real. Thanks for exposing it. Hopefully these kids will grow up

Cow

On point ending with having Kevin’s “the system worked” comment. What a twist. You’re doing god work, keep it up, keep it lit.

Ed

Completely disagree, hardly moralizing and his commentary/social analysis is what distinguishes him from the endless supply of exploitative media covering shit like this. You have to offer some kind of perspective when covering at the margins of society, otherwise, you're just profiting from running a Jerry Springer poverty freakshow for suburban audiences like Adam22 or that creep Soft White Underbelly. Andrew knows whatsup with journalistic ethics.

Bobby Styles

Another great series 🙌 the output so far this year has been prolific, with consistently high quality

Renato Jones

i've been listening to that dj lucas a lot since your last episode of this one. thanks!

Trash_Compactor

I don’t believe they have that personal empathy at all. It’s all a facade. They don’t give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

Benjamin Rocha

I cannot give this man enough money

DW

Bravo

Gilena Simons

FORTY FIVE MINUTES? Waaaaaa? So dangerous and harrowing for everyone in that loser’s path. Lord have mercy on him and may he raise his worth in this realm. Amen. 🇬🇧

John Tipton

This didn't feel quite finished. But this is so rad that you got to cover so many sides of this story. Empathetic and authentic journalism

Steven Wright

These foos are dumb and it’s sad.

Christopher Cruz

Very much disagree. They are very self aware. The most hurtful people are aware that they are bad and try to justify or excuse the unhealthy behavior. What we shouldn't do is try to dehumanize them and make bold claims like they lack the capacity for empathy. They are young and immature and need to be taught these things.

Miles

I think a car dealer from Kia or Hondai would have been Interesting to interview. Good work as always

Justin

Uhm, I don't mean to be a downer here, but isn't filming during the actual car theft and chasing at high speeds, and not reporting at the time implicating yourself for potential charges? Or maybe there's special rules for journalists? I honestly don't know. Glad you (and everybody else) is okay! Solid series here. I hope these kids find a way out before it's too late.

Christopher Cruz

It's sad to see these kids acting this way. They are frustrated and tired of their current environment and rightfully so. But success has been sold to them, as a product and monetary value. Being successful and happy in life takes much more than the momentary thrills of a joyride, living a lifestyle created by the music and clothing industry, and opposing authority. They clearly have the energy and passion to be productive, they just need a positive outlet. Rebellion is good and a normal part of growing up. But stealing cars isn't the most interesting way. Fighting the government head on against unjust policy seems like fun! You wanna rebel than fight for what's right you know. But it's definitely optimistic to assume teens will be into politics. Maybe let's just buy cheap but safer cars, invest in schools to encourage and maintain attendance, and try to be patient. This problem is likely to go away if tended to properly. But it will take great systemic change. And with more videos from Andrew to show us these issues in America we'll all be a bit more insightful and empathetic.

Justin

Also, you've probably figured it out by now but since you mentioned that you weren't sure why the police disengaged the chase... they do this when catching the car is deemed too high risk because of speeds and the amount of people in the area is high. It's risk analysis on whether there's a high chance that someone could get hit and whether capturing the car thieves is worth the chance. (Not a cop, but this is kinda common knowledge...)

Chris Carter

Pans to Henry Kissinger💀🤣

Parker

wARREN N EVAN

Jacob Long

I just want to say to drew and the crew that I really appreciate how you try to find the middle ground in all the issues that you cover. A lot of the criticism about your movie was that it was too 'centrist' but I love how humanising your content is, or rather when it needs to be. I always try to hear both sides of the story and I feel like in the current political climate it's seen as cringe. Love the work!

Lesley

Seems to always boil down to one thing... bad role-models or lack there off create bad role-models. Even the Kia boy hunter went down the wrong path due to influence from a brother... violence begets violence

Tzadik-Isaiah Dymnd

They're going to deal with A LOT of regret and self loathing if they do start thinking right. That's what it took me

blip4727

Kia should have handed out an updated sticker to go on the window.

Azryu

I don’t think they can be both self aware and also say things like “insurance will just cover it”. They do not have any empathy whatsoever for anyone not in their little group. They have the capacity for it as humans, but It’s not at all engaged. It’s impossible not to know you’re causing insurance bills to skyrocket for these poor or working class families as you steal cards hundreds or thousands of times as a group. An increase in a bill that will slam them month after month after month. If they didn’t know this, why don’t they rob from their own street block? They own friends?

Karol Wojciechowski

How do you come up with ideas for episodes? I mean probably not many people heard about some kia stealing kids.

Kenda

The F him and his birthday clip is priceless

normalguy

This was huge national news before Hyundai and Kia offered recalls to fix the issue. Anyone who engages with the news on a regular basis would be aware of this story.

Ben Dorfman

The song sounded like a klansmen from Tennessee in the 1800’s, pans to rap, that part was hilarious

Eric

This was such a great little mini-series. Silly but real at the same time.

Daniel Robert Blackburn

If they are getting $20 each for those dvds thats crazy, hood economics are something else.

Jeff Tuseth

$20 for a DVD, $50-100 for a car 😆

ryan petersen

Your work is awesome Andrew. I hope you are in Augusta Ga, right now for the Masters. Look into the history of that golf course, its wild!

Jack Bowden

Hangover trilogy is almost worth half of a Kia 😂 can't say I disagree

nico

Andrew always out here dropping bangers. Love the work!

unicks

This is a well composed ending for this documentary

Jeff Tuseth

It was larger news a year or two ago. Still very interesting to know it's still happening

Floodo1

most insane part of the series, ppl willing to pay $20 for a DVD in 2024

Floodo1

Fuck anyone that busts ppls windows

Kiko Ruckus

It's simply supply and demand. The Hangover Trilogy is a hot commodity right now and the Kia Boys know this, that's why they can get away with these looney DVD prices. Anyone can steal a Kia, but how many people do you know have an unopened copy of the Hangover Trilogy????

Sean Andrews

love the mix of stupid shit and rap over swervo driving and the contemplative narration reflecting on what it all means, best documentary content out here

Metzae

Damn, man. This is such excellent journalism.

Wylcey Keep

There's supposed to be a decal applied, at least dealerships around my area are doing that when you bring it for the upgrade. Not that I expect these guys would pay attention to it with the speeds they move at.

Iceplotion

Paints a picture of how the American system can really screw up certain groups, but not from one "evil guy" who wanted to make things unequal instead from the centennial age of these systems that have been very slowly chipping away at us

PoisonTh1rd

I really apreciated the honesty of the kia boyz hunter there in the end.

Wesley Shuford

Fuckin wow. Another excellent film. I'd say keep them coming, but good lord the pace you're at is too much for even me. Shows love and dedication to your craft, keep on keeping on Andrew. Love you bud

bombaclat

thanks for the docu banger after banger <3

Younghoe koo

Ever since Andrew had been back making content it has been so focused and on point, you can see depth and growth through the content he is producing. You are in your renaissance era king.

Jason Filloramo

Great work as always Andrew! You are really a master of humanizing both sides of every story.

Jay

They probably refused, they could get fired for saying the wrong thing.

Elyse Monroy

A Kia with a street value for $100 dollars transporting DVDs with a street value of $20 is wild to me.

David Wess

I'm thinking it's either cap or that their environment creates a space where the only way to get to target/Wal-Mart/thrift store is a stollen kia. Maybe Amazon won't deliver to the gardens. You're ex from 5 years ago finally kicked you off netflix and your TV can't download apps anyways. You've never heard of a fire stick. Maybe you buy a DVD for 20?

Glenn Wallace

It’s because no one will be looking for those dvd’s whereas the car is going to be used for more high risk criminal activity so its value is almost worthless. They use the cars as a tool rather than a product.

Glenn Wallace

It’s because no one will be looking for those dvd’s whereas the car is going to be used for more high risk criminal activity so its value is almost worthless. They use the cars as a tool rather than a product.

LUCIFEAR

KIA! KIA! KIAAAAAA!!!

Alex Rodriguez

Do you think you can ask PATREON to change the color of the like button that way I dont have to unlike and like to make sure I already watched the video

Bangers & mash

There was a similar trend in Brisbane in Australia a few years back, Possibly still active. Except these kids would go for high end luxury cars specifically, post it on ig getting in chases and all the rest. I’m sure most of them have been smoked since. There were a few pages of different ‘crews’ I guess. I’ve never understood the point of racking cars if there’s no money to be made. Baffling.

Gabriel Watson

these people obviously have lawyers. they know what they're doin. andrew got caught crossing the border illegally last year lmfao

Constable808

Damn it hits so hard that Kevin Morse used to be just like the KIA Boys and learned to better his life the hard way. What he does is amazing but only a drop in a bucket. Many more communities in the US have these problems and need help.

Ed

He's a trick who makes poverty porn based on crude, insensitive questions. There's some good discussion of his moral flaws here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Appalachia/comments/16aurge/soft_white_underbelly_opinions/

Marco Simone

Damn this was crazy, great documentary. I get that there'll always be teenagers doing dumb shit but stealing cars for $100 in order to buy some clothes is just... I get their point of view, a but of IG fame, a bit of money, feeling appreciated, "part of something", but I really hope they understand they're on a really stupid path

Justin

It was big in national news, and then locally in Las Vegas after 2 teens stole a Hyundai and intentionally killed a man during their joyride (they actually hit a few people, but only the last man, who happened to be a retired cop (unbeknownst to them) died). They filmed it and the footage was released on social media. It was absolutely terrible, and the teens are being tried as adults for murder. They showed no remorse at arrest and during the trial. People were pretty upset around here about it. https://apnews.com/article/bicyclist-killed-teens-vegas-murder-charges-1374bf01db9701ef10cb6b3fe306dbf3

michael

Crazy that 5 'Into the Wild' dvds could buy one Kia

Jeff Tuseth

Not sure I would call it amazing... Kevin definitely needs some therapy. He's hooked on the "Getting the Bad Guys" addiction going... Same reason some become Cops.... We need more folks like Andrew, talking to these kids, asking questions... Making them think about why they do it, what's the ultimate goal... Many of us have made bad decisions in life. It's part of growing up. The Prison system does work for some like it did with Kevin... Unfortunately it's also helped perpetuate this circle to where the CT Kia boys are today....

Raphael

After-school programs more parks, safe youth hang out spots and free opportunities to learn at trade schools could solve probably75% of all crimes committed by youths. I always found it to be crazy how America treats the youth with seemingly utter disdain and disregard to their development that doesn't make someone else more money. It's too bad we have all been brainwashed into thinking we don't deserve nice things and should all just be punished constantly simply for existing because otherwise crime would happen, not realizing that actually what causes crime is economic disparity and a lack of opportunity to live a meaningful life. I don't blame these kids for wanting something better and falling into the trap of commiting crime in order to try to get ahead, not realizing they are both a consequence of and a source of legitimacy for the anti crime propaganda machine used by politicians to get elected.

Raphael

I feel bad for Kevin. He needs therapy and needs an opportunity to do something better with his life and the first responders who enable his behavior should be ashamed messaging the guy with info on current crimes, making him feel a responsibility and an avenue to help what he sees as his younger self by trolling addicts and pretending to be a third rate batman.

Raphael

Yeah he probably has a direct line to Mr patreon himself. I'm sorry for your hardship we all are struggling with demons cam I trade with you?

Raphael

He had no real reason to hide his motivation being he was an honest, earnest individual on what he believes is a noble quest.

Raphael

Yeah Andrew is the best journalist currently documenting the underbelly of America. I think his approach of radical empathy is so refreshing compared to the news I have mostly stopped paying attention to because I wanted to learn not be regurgitated on the same talking points over and over again.

Raphael

Speaking as someone who has had there window busted open by both myself and others numerous times I completely agree they are annoying to replace and the door never fits back together right!

Jack Hapgood

I’m from the UK so I don’t really know what’s going on in America but is the job opportunity not there in America like it is here in the UK and that’s what drives people be in those kinds of circles?

Impatient

I had a sticker put on my Kia driver side window that says something along the lines of "anti-theft upgrade installed". That didn't stop someone from trying to steal my car last July. I imagine the sticker would have some positive effect, but evidently it's not foolproof.

Karol Wojciechowski

Thanks for bringing some context to this story! I have to admit that (from what I've seen on youtube) the impact of crime activity on your society is just insane. Shit like that would never happen in the UK. And I think it's mainly because your law allows people to carry (and succesfully use) a firearm. And around firearm you (Americans) created a whole lifestyle. And with the gun crimes come all other sorts of it. I'm not saying it's good or bad but I clearly see a connection between surging crime rate in the US and easy acces to guns. Lots of shit wouldn't happen if they weren't so damn easy. But anyway, that's only my opinion, I might be wrong. Greetings from London.

Chris

Sells you a Kia at $100, turns around and tries to get $20 for DVDs worth like $7.50 combined lmao

Harry Harris

Federal minimum wage is equivalent to £5.78 still but this is more a problem of surroundings. impoverished people are usually the same everywhere, some end up in a hard working lifestyle and others end up in a similar yet less legal standpoint

Capten Hook

Couple problems with that theory 1. These idiots are not selling any of these cars so if jobs/money was the problem they would be concentrating on making a profit as opposed to "getting lit". 2. We have plenty of jobs. These are are not "gangsters" or "CAREER criminals"... These are halfwits with no strong positive male role models.

Mrein

Great doc! Being from Europe, I dont fully understand what's happening in America but it's very sad to see that society seems to have given up on these youths. There's so much potential for good. Keep making Andrew and Team ❤️

Josh Pritchard

Unfortunately that ig fame makes them feel important. Sad, but they have no one else that gives them love or makes them feel that way..

Josh Harris

Jesus fucking Christ indeed. Keep up the good work! Stay safe!

Sneaky Blunders

The US minimum wage actually varies state to state, and a couple states have lower than 7.25$ minimum wage, while some have up to 15$+ an hour. To add onto what charlotte said, or rather didn't say, the job opportunity has almost nothing to do with creating these kind of circles. Even if the reason they don't want to work is because the hourly wage is so low, it would be ironic because they're working for hours trying to get a kia to maybe sell for 100 bucks.

Sneaky Blunders

yeh what glenn said, the street value for the cars is hella lowered because no one actually "wants" them, plus the ease of access to them. The movies I'm willing to bet aren't getting picked up for any more than 5$ if they don't just laugh at the kids selling movies they just yoinked from a lifted kia. No one's paying 20 for those movie's, let alone in the hood lol. You could buy those brand new for cheaper than 20$

Evan

They really recorded themselves doing a crime

Nabil Lahrech

2$ tops for a dvd. fuck you mean 20????

Conrad

Holy shit dude your growth as a journalist is fully documented and absolutely insane. This is your best series. Your insight is spot on and your message is poignant. Big ups

Ryan B

Bro u are absolutely killing it! Keep covering the gnarly shit you do, been all in since all gas no breaks!! Mad love from San Antonio

Daniel DeHart

Thank you Andrew, glad to be supporting the good journalism

Noble Prey

my sister's car got jacked by the kai bois they fucked her car up. she lives in philly btw and wants to move back to wv

Jake Lee

Kia boys are wild but I guess that’s what happens when you grow up in a wild place. Welcome to America

Rico

Man I hope you do a doc on the recovery industry next. I work in the field, the SUD/MH RTC industry is so twisted. Especially the MH industry in Texas. They rank last in MH resources, you throw a rock and you can hit 10 SUD facilities though. That’s all because of insurance licensure. It’s honestly the biggest story out there in my opinion.

Andrew Matson

Actually Andrew that was pretty damn good work. Hard to feel sympathy for the car thieves but great story overall. If you ever do a doc on recovery industry I have a contact you may be interested in.

Chris

hey- if anyone sees this, can they link me to the discord? Or tell me how to find it if i pay for membership?

Bailey Brewer

I don’t condone what they’re doing, but… why don’t they sell them to someone who’ll break em down for parts? Could prolly sell the parts right back to the people in the area you’re stealing from, too.

Bailey Brewer

Great job Andrew & the Channel 5 Team!

Nolan P

Just the way it makes me feel. No particular reason..... Its good to support but its not easy to consume for me imo ig ikywim lol tldr. I prefer "hard hitting" like family guy, i think peter (peeedaahh) is really really funny.

Angel Alonzo

Couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen. So good! & the police chase was gold

Nice

I don't think many people will feel sympathy when these kids are gunned down by someone having a bad day

Tristan Hughes

Minimum wage in Connecticut is $15 hourly and there's no shortage of places hiring. Like Andrew said a few episodes ago, the kids could make more money doing actual work. They're doing this for internet fame and adrenaline.

Sam Nichols

how is a hangover dvd worth 1/5 of an automibile

Sofia Dias

Love the suit

JD

Does anybody know the song that begins at 1:20? Need to know

William Robert Hagstrom

post more footage! its cut down so much and we PAY you for this dawg we want it

JD

Thanks so much! I thought Shazam was similar to SoundHound app in the sense that it was for identifying songs playing from radios. I didn't realize Shazam was meant to be used this way, will have to get it.

Andres Avila

I think for them as much as they say it’s about money, there’s a reason they mainly sell to other criminals for so cheap. It’s a status and respect thing. Since they have no role models in their life, They look up to a lot of the hood guys so they’ll do anything to gain their admiration, even if it means selling them a 20k car for 100 bucks

bigpowerpoint

Man this reminds me of how invincible it feels to be a teenager. Good luck to these dudes on figuring it out before it’s too late for them.

Nice

They're old enough to know between right and wrong. I knew it was wrong to steal before 10 years old. Quit justifying criminal behavior from borderline adults because "muh no role models!!!" that's a pathetic excuse.

Alex Filo

Really entertaining, with reasonable & humanizing opinions throughout by Andrew Only thing that I didn't buy into was that women victim of getting her Kia stolen. She couldn't sleep for 3 weeks and has been a wreck? I'm sure it sucked but that seems slightly soft. And I know there are people more affected from getting their Kia's stolen. Think it would've been more impactful to replace her interview with someone who actually had goods stolen, or didn't get the car back, or didn't have insurance or something. Overall great work though. Glad I watched, glad I contribute on patreon Andrew if you see this come to Chicago to check out the migrant camps!! Want to see what happens with the people once they get past the border, hear what they have to say

Justin

I wish you would upload these to a private YouTube channel so I can watch on tv

Hamish

So interesting. I still don't think you answered your original questions on this one. Or I guess, I would have liked to know the answer to the problem explored more.

Devon

The fact that he used to be a drug dealer and now he harasses them by flying the drone says all you need to know about the guy.

Nathan

You can airplay to a TV if you’re on iPhone! I’ve been watching these on my Samsung TV, it’s a smart TV but it’s still about a decade old

Ada

sometimes you leave stuff out out of respect for the interviewee. as it already is it doesn't paint the most flattering picture of any of them

Max

Good dive into something I've never even heard of! A bit of an abrupt ending here (once it ended I had to double check that it said Part 4/4) but it was all worth watching.

xxrosemaryxx

Idk if it’s about getting out of poverty at this point I think they just don’t want to be forgotten :/

Cole Muters

This was genuinely beautiful bro

Chris Bergsma

Thank you for being the only Journalist that I trust to be real, I don't want that to be the case, so if you know other citizen Journalists doing similar things, anyone please reply.. I need more real media in my life.

Dickson Mayaz

And your answer is to kill them? You could have a bright future in law enforcement.

Nice

Is that what I said? Reading comprehension is difficult.

C Yost

I'm curious what taking down the social media following would do for their drive to do these crimes. I know that in a lot of ways these kids enjoy the fame but I also think taking them off TikTok and Insta wouldn't be that big of a hit to their lifestyle. It seems that they get a lot of validation from the communities they hang in and that's just as encouraging as the validation from social media. I also find it interesting that they don't just flip their takes as soon as possible, I really doubt money is as large of a factor as they make it seem, like it was said in the doc, the Kia Boys are the Mcjob workers of the underworld. $100 bucks isn't even enough to make it worth it to put gas in the tank so it isn't about the money. I think Andrew is right on the money with this doc. They do it because they've found comradery in the black market. The way they talk about the role models in their lives sinches it. No one else is there for them, or if they are, they aren't available enough to know what they're doing. It's actually really sad.

blaze

Journalism at its finest, thank you Andrew for another great story

Dan Vee

fire ass series b

Herkermer Homolka

lol.. aww the kia boys are actually good hearted kids! they just didnt have the perfect family growing up! They have great love of money for own another! This andrew dude is biased as fuck

Nick LS

Hurt people hurt people man, shits rough, i don’t have a solution

Chanman22

Too short dude!

Splinter

Just watched “America shits itself”, awesome dude!

Aisling Lake

40 something year old man playing batman and obsessing over some weaboo shit like katanas. what a sad pathetic man who needs a real job. I suggest failing the police academy, since there's no way he'd pass and it would hopefully get him onto something realistic and beneficial. guy couldn't even truly confirm his "work" has helped at all just that he thinks it might have. what an absolute loser

BlankStare

"Time to turn up..." or just jerk the wheel around like you have Parkinson's

BlankStare

*Guy commits his time and resources to potentially help his community* The World: What a fuckin loser...

Aisling Lake

Guy wastes his life pretending to be a superhero with a samurai sword and accomplishing nothing but getting laughed at by his community* FTFY

Sam

The main guy in their group wasn’t even black. The racism you push on the world makes the world a worse place, just think about how ignorant you are being, you’re part of the problem.

Gannon King

Sit back down in your dingy 1 bedroom studio. Who the fuck are you to call this person such insults? Oh, right. You're part of the cancer that is the reason our nation falls.

PainDrain

Another great doc guys.

Ethan Kelly

Yeah he’s a goof but his hearts in the right place, get over it. He’s doing more than you and me.

Aisling Lake

the children will stop stealing cars when they are 18+. though this middle aged Samauri wannabe will continue to think "Live by the sword die by the sword" and chasing teens around at night and failing to do *anything* is still the cool thing to do. channel 5 seems to have a bunch of sad middle aged men who think some failure weeb vigilante is cool lol. yall must have missed the part where that loser straight up said he can't confirm his efforts have made any impact at all. channel would make an absolute killing selling cheap samurai swords on its shop.

Ben

This is healing stuff man. Keep the big heart

HICKn

Check out Martha cooper great photographer for graffiti and documentary about it, you gotta do it. Real graff not gang shit.

dali wakbar

bra-vo! so who is that picture he put up representing an evil person?

Scrotong

People, people

tombenu

Hey Andrew, thanks for bringing us this special coverage. I usually don't comment but I wanted to leave some criticisms / feedback. In the 2nd episode, when you were in the parking lot with the hood on, you narrated it in the editing to fit your movement of the mouth. You probably? -had to do it because you didn't have any other options at the time but it kind of undermines you for your authenticity. it just feels fake you know. You're not saying anything off, but the way you bring it to your viewers is very un-normal for you. We like you because you are raw, straight from the people. That's all, thanks for the coverage!

Seth Cooper

So the community should do nothing and wait for them to age out of it? You clearly don't own property. Undercover KIA girl up in here looking to justify actions.

Peyton Litberg

Andrew, hopefully you see this. You said on Lex Fridman that you were hoping/anticipating the HBO doc release to be a "world opening up to you" kind of moment. Whilst maybe that wasn't the *total* response you were given hence the circumstances, I know that thousands of people (including myself) were introduced to you and your work through that doc. You have since inspired me (as a journalism student) to follow your lead in honest independent reporting. TPR may not have had the rollout you desired, but its impact has reached many, and will continue to do so for years to come. Thanks for all you do, keep it coming!

Megan Hartman

I have to say, I live in upstate New York and my car (2018Huyndi) was stolen out of my driveway. The thieves inflicted around $6,000 of damage in around 10 hours. The car was in the shop for 5 weeks and we had no way to get to work/ school. The car was used to commit a robbery a few miles away. It was recovered by the police after 2 days. Everyone told us it was gone for good. It was awful, we had to pay over $600 out of pocket even though we had insurance. We do not have this kind of extra money lying around and after a few months are still working it off. Ihope this can stop soon.

John Riley Herman

Can you post Quarter Confessions onto the Patreon?

CoastalOregonian

This is my first time on Patreon and I'm so excited to support you guys at channel 5. The last segment really made me think. Although my addiction didn't last as long as Morris's, I totally get that feeling of healing through community service. Now, I just have to get over my social anxiety lol. So many addicts have so much potential. We find all sorts of crazy ways to get a fix, and once we've been sober for a couple of years, we have to rebuild ourselves all over again. I think this resilience mixed with creative thinking has tons of potential. But too often, the stigma of addiction stops people from truly getting to the other side. People are afraid of being judged, rejected, and ultimately alienated from society. Being sober is one thing, but to truly be through it, we have to gain a sense of community that is more than just the dope house, and even more than just close family. I'll never forget the study they did on rats. They gave them drugs and found that the adolescent rats would use the drug, but ultimately stopped and continued on with their lives with the rest of the adults. Because there is no fear of someone "finding out" or having family act like your one foot in the grave because you decided to use Coke or a pill (this definitely has changed with the pandemic of pressed pills). I remember my sisters telling my nephews that I was pretty much nonexistent and just a "druggie".... It takes a lot of time, therapy, and perseverance to work through these things. Sorry for the rant lol. I love the content, keep up the great work! ✌🏼&❤️

Murph

Honest truth, someone ditched a Kia in my shared driveway last night

ShotgunForFun

Volunteer at local places. Becoming some "youtube vigilante" is dumb AF. Maybe after you get some experience actually helping people.

ShotgunForFun

You can 100% tell they haven't been caught yet. Cuz each one of them pussies would rat each other out immediately. So fucking sad, criminals have always been dumb... like me as a teenager... but these fucks are the dumbest.

Brad R.

The Bad Samaritan line makes no sense cut that

Murph

Cheers dude. Wish you the best of luck in stepping out and trying make an impact on others when you feel ready to make that leap

Berserked

6:35 LMAO

Will

Hey Andrew, I just wanted to say thank you for going on lex. It was so cool to see two of my role models sit down and have a conversation. I just released episode two of my podcast today and I think about both of your styles a lot while interviewing guests. The lavs are in the mail! Really appreciated this Kia series. Sorry about the vegas video getting taken off youtube. As a social worker I really enjoyed it and I'm sure you'll win in court. Keep fighting that good fight and gaining ground for smaller journalists. Love ya brother <3

Collin

Honestly I was expecting Kevin to have a background in the military or law enforcement or some shit like that - like living out a fantasy of delivering justice. I was surprised at his past, but that's actually really heartening to know there's people like him out there who fucked up in the past but now spend every day of their life trying to better themselves and their community. Great series as always. Hopefully that disclaimer at the start is enough to not get you guys into trouble lol.

arthur resende

Andrew, first time commenting here on Patreon. The story told by your video is a milestone in your ability as a content creator. I'm not North American, but I imagine the name B.F. Skinner might sound familiar. His work "Beyond Freedom and Dignity" (1971) somehow permeates the history not only of this work, but of a large part of yours documentaries. Have you already come into contact with Skinner's texts? The uncle of the doves and mice?

Eamon Mulholland

Came here looking for the song, thanks! For anyone else: Kia / Hyundai Boy Anthem Pce Bj

Eamon Mulholland

Yeah I literally paused at that and came to comment. I was like $20??? That’s probably more than the retail price lmao

T

Kids committing felonies for 50$ payouts, wtf

Bradley Castaneda Photography

Around 4:30, where you call back to other previous documentaries you’ve released, I think you should include their titles in a corner or something. Just so there is some context to the clips.

Richard Bateman

Just so good for headlining the environmental roots (i.e. Capitalism) of these problems

Sam Nordstrom

great video. Hope you guys are considering going to Columbia University, seems like some big protests are going on.

Bosh Paro

Why are we paying for "exclusive" content that airs on YouTube shortly after, especially when the Channel 5 team isn't finishing their projects or respect the fan base enough to offer us a reason for why part 4 of ocean city streets is STILL missing?

Borotzky

It shouldn't be labeled as exclusive content, but we get to see videos much earlier than youtube.

Bosh Paro

Nah man Kia boys was uploaded same week to YT. And it's in a full video instead of parts, which is low key better.

Bosh Paro

Correction it was uploaded 10 days later on YouTube, not same week.

Brandon Hendricks

Without support, we dont get any content. Or if we do, it's at a severely reduced rate. This is independent! Rarely do we get to consume media that has no corporate intervention or agenda these days. The fact that the content is released on Youtube is fantastic because it has the opportunity to be shared by folks who don't have the means to pay for Patreon, or, just dont want to! To each their own. If anything else, you are supporting an art form, and that is inspirational enough for me!

Bosh Paro

2.2 million people subscribe to Chanel 5 at last count. Regardless of if those viewers are watching ads on YT or paying $5 here C5 is making that money every month.

Noah Wainwright

If thats how you feel why are you still subscribed on here? I promise you that C5 is not "making millions a month"

Bosh Paro

Oh naw man, I canceled the scam. They let you keep your subscription until the end of the last month you paid for.

zuth alron

I doubt many of the videos on youtube are monetized due to the harsh topics they talk about. Channel 5's patreon is here essentially as a donation fund to keep the reporting going. If you don't like donating money without receiving anything immediately, that's a you problem.

Levi

Bro aint got $5 a month. lmao. God forbid you tip the creators of this raw ass content. You also are upset about upload times, but the patreon mention on youtube says "watch videos early." You think it came with a steak? like wtf. lol. and they are edited differently. its not just 4 videos merged back to back. touch grass

george

I agree with him and un subbing too. Last update was the 9th and It's the 25th. Didn't expect a steak but 5 dollars is to much for me atm. 5 times 2.2 million is millions. Thanks for the content hope to one day come back.

Caleb Dowe

You gotta link up with Shoenice for a video

Chavariin

So happy I was raised with principles

Marcos Lauteren

They moved thousands of homeless in Portland to Yakima and other places within 5 hours. And u gave narc vibes

Emily Miller

how do we get added to the discord server? just joined

Ariana

u dun diddly dun it again

Adam baba

Will there be discount tickets for Patreon members for the movie screening? Just checking before I buy.

J G Wentworth

Andrew whyd you lie to us and say you'd give us exclusive content on patreon? I've been a patron for months now and we've only got like 2 exclusive videos but everything is still censored. I don't care if you post a video smoking a cigarette every week, give us some exclusive stuff☮️ Love your journalism though🔥

Noah Wainwright

look at the runtime of the parts of any recent series collectively compared to its youtube counterpart, there is many things cut out of the youtube version

Bosh Paro

Content creators can chose what they monetize and what they don't, the easiest way to tell is if adverts pop up the creator is making money, and for some reason all Chanel 5 videos come with a bunch of ads on YouTube. Probably a coincidence tho..

Noah Wainwright

went through the last 5 videos, philly streets, LV tunnels, ocean city streets, all dont have ads, meaning 60 percent of his last 5 videos produced no money from youtube

travis henson

Why didnt we get the Philly video 1st before releasing the clip on YT? come on man..

Bosh Paro

Bro, do you work for Andrew, or do you just ride his dick this hard for fun?

akira

what about the pro palestine protests?is this not a topic to cover?

LIMON

Came to suggest the same thing. I’d love to see these “soros funded” protests covered by Channel 5.

Josh Parsons

Thinking you've achieved some grand revelation by realizing this is not an ultra premium version of channel 5 undermines the rest of our intelligence.... We're here to monetarily support the man, at least most of us. You cancelled, enjoy the rest of your month and stop trying to rob this platform of its voluntary contributions.

Thomas Colden

NO CONTENT IN A MONTH!!! GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER ANDREW PEOPLE PAY FOR YOUR TIME

Adrian

Damn bro, relax. It's $5. He's probably working on something.

Jonathan Strength

We got GTA Vi before more Channel 5 content.

Leo

hope everything is good !

Kevin R

How do I join the discord?

Nick Rogers
