Today's the second of four horror movies for CrackpotoberFest 2022 - Ghostwatch (1992), and I'm joined by Fortean expert Tanner Boyle (@TannerFBoyle1) to discuss the film. Tanner walks us through the plot and we discuss the film and its themes, which include spiritualism, baby farming, psychological operations, Jimmy Savile, the Society for Psychical Research, and even, yet again, a Jonestown connection.

I think you might have mixed up the Druze with the Yazidi, although both were definitely persecuted by ISIS and other jihadist groups. Yazidi mostly live in Iraq whereas Druze mostly live in western Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. The Yazidi are I think mostly pro-PKK/YPJ, whereas the picture with Druze is a lot more complicated, but broadly I think Syrian Druze were mostly pro-government, while the Lebanese Druze leadership is very anti-Syrian government (Bashar al-Assad's father allegedly had Walid Jumblatt's father assassinated), and Israel tries to do divide and rule tactics by favouring Druze over other Palestinians. They're also integrated into the military - Druze with Israeli citizenship are subject to military service, unlike Muslim or Christian Palestinians with Israeli citizenship.
