The final scene when he finds the slippers is very significant. The traditional Korean gift for a parting when someone is going on a journey is shoes. When Dong Hoon saw the slippers he knew Ji An was gone. My favorite aspect of this whole series is the way Ji An is touching the normal world of a close family through her phone tap. It slowly brings her alive from her desperate isolation as the story unfolds. At the beginning she looked unhealthy, beaten down, and unattractive (hard to accomplish with IU), but when she walks away with her back pack she is strikingly beautiful and her skin is glowing with health. Many more surprises to come.
