This is a fun and quite sweet episode to end on before you go on break. And I’m glad to see you loved it, Jess. It is in this episode that we are formally introduced to Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. Oh, and of course, Mr. Homn. Majel Barrett is a complete riot as Lwaxana. The woman would probably test me some, but I love the character and Majel’s performance. Carel Struycken was delightful as Mr. Homn and I loved how you lived for him and his trip goals: Tie one on, ring the gong ad-infinitum. I enjoyed Nan Martin and Robert Ellenstein as the Millers. Then there’s you loving the guest appearance of Robert Knepper. You crossed my mind upon seeing his name in the credits, as I thought, “That’s an actor Jess is quite fond of, especially from Prison Break, isn’t he? I think Jess mentioned that before.” Seeing your reaction to his name in the credits and the gasp you had upon seeing Robert’s name confirmed my thought. That’s high praise from you saying he’s tied with Cersei for your favorite villain of television. I haven’t seen Prison Break, so I can’t speak to the character he plays there, but Cersei is up there high on favorite television villains for me as well. She’s in at least top ten along with her father, a primary villain from Killing Eve, Samurai Jack, two from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, and my favorite from Fargo being perhaps my favorite, though there is Peter Capaldi as Malcom Tucker in The Thick of It if one qualifies him as a villain. Then again, technically, Khan would probably be number one as he debuted on television first. You are correct that arranged marriage plotlines can be a gamble. I think this one pulled it off well. Wil Wheaton spoke well of it, saying, “this could have been an absolutely dreadful “shotgun wedding” episode that was as predictable as it was tedious, but Tracy's script, aided by very good guest star casting and great acting from everyone involved, made it one of the better episodes in season one.” I love how it gave Marina some good time to shine as Deanna. She and Robert were great in their scenes and showed their characters had the potential to have an amiable relationship. I liked how Wyatt was a nice guy. You can tell it annoys Riker, and he’s thinking, “I can’t even enjoy hating this guy. Who the hell needs that?” which brings us to your one thought, which, yes, there was a bit of a double standard of the narrative prioritizing the wants of the men and not giving all that much of a shit about what Deanna wanted. You’re not incorrect on that observation, Jess. Though it’s not as bad as other cases of said double standard, your thought on that is valid. I figured you’d relate to some of the wedding planning tensions given your past experiences as a wedding planner. The only wedding that I had a significant hand in planning and/or helping set-up/plan/organize etc, was my brother and sister in-law's wedding. And although there was not the bickering that there was here, this episode brought back the planning memories, and provided a good portent of a future where, by some miracle, I ever get married, this type of bickering is going on, and I’m muttering into a drink or two, “Oh, mother of God.” The resolution of the episode was genuinely quite sweet. I had a double take seeing Raye Birk as Wrenn. I’m glad you enjoyed the ending, and just loved the episode in general. Like I said, a fun and quite sweet episode to end on before you go on break, which I hope you most enjoy, Jess, thank you for the sweet and lovely reaction.

His Prison Break character T-Bag was initially going to just be in two episodes before being killed off, but Knepper impressed the crew so much that they decided to make him a major character. And you can very much tell that's what happened, as his evolution into an extremely clever, resourceful guy doesn't even try to make sense with his first appearance as a completely vile sexual predator. But he's so great in the role that it's hard to mind too much.
