This whole episode is a pretty obvious attempt to fix the portrayal of the Ferengi from The Last Outpost and make them more suitable to being the new Klingons. But first impressions can be a bitch, and the audience had clearly already had its opinion of them set in stone, so soon enough the crew would give up and reduce them to the comic relief race they've been ever since. But none of that keeps the episode itself from being a lot of fun, and it even introduces The Picard Maneuver, which led to a hilarious running gag on set as the cast and crew started using the phrase to refer to Patrick Stewart's tendency to adjust his shirt after standing up from his chair (yeah, good luck not seeing that ever again). On the downside, it also features the moment that permanently cemented Wesley's reputation when he not only comes up with a perfect solution within seconds of learning about the problem, but then scoffs "Adults!" Wil Wheaton has had some choice words for the writer responsible for that line and all the bullying he suffered from it. And though it's not nearly as famous, I also have to just laugh at the attempt to enshrine into canon that Roddenberry's vision of an ideal future (which includes women not being allowed to be captains, remember) is so absurdly perfect that no one's ever heard of headaches.

To Patrick’s defense, he did say the uniform bunched up some every time he sat down or stood up. I do it myself depending on what I’m wearing, for instance, my winter peacoat, so I’m not one to judge. I do recall Wil Wheaton expressing severe displeasure over the “Adults.” line. If I’m being honest, revisiting it, I was surprised that it wasn’t as over the top obnoxious as I remembered it being. Thus, I didn’t find it as bad this time round, though certainly, you could have cut it entirely, and I do still share Wil’s opinion of the line in question. Yeah, Roddenberry had an interesting view of the future, though thankfully, everyone ignored/retconned the one bit about women not allowed to be captains.

Unless I misunderstood the prime directive would it have meant they could even have interacted with the planet in the previous episode as they themselves were pre-warp. But I guess we can break that rule of the prime directive because..... Did you see how hot they all were? So hormones override that part of the prime directive i guess. I used to think the concept of them having solved common things like a head ache in the future.... But now I need answers. How does simply having more understanding of how the brain works remove headaches from ever happening? Making up answers for bad writing I would say the put some additives in their food to combat common ailments like headaches etc. Isnt it standard procedure, especially in a combat situation and in enemy territory that when abandoning ship you set it to self destruct so that no one can access the computer logs on the ship? So the Stargazer shouldn't even exist in the first place. Havent rewatch TNG in forever but Wesley shirt here... Not that the BBC would ever admit to taking inspiration from an american show but the 13th doctors trench coat literally 100% using the same color scheme. Rewatching things comes with the downside of starting to over analyze everything I guess. Like I enjoyed Star wars more as a kid though I liked Trek but now as an adult overall Star wars is probably near the bottom of the list in terms of scifi i enjoy. I heard someone refer to Wars as more science fantasy than fiction. Trek has even moved down a bit for me when you haven even more grounded stuff like firefly or the expanse.
