The show’s crew clearly knew Bobby’s big return had to be something more than a standard monster of the week, and dang if Van Ness doesn’t have a good argument for being the single most evil villain in the whole show. It’s a very tricky balance to build the whole story around Bobby’s frustration at his inability to communicate with them while not crossing the line into making the episode so stressful that people just shut it off, but they absolutely pull it off and leave you desperate for more now that communication is established.

I really despair at Patreon sometimes. For the second week in a row it repeatedly fails to acquire my user details to let me in after the 'allow' screen. Looks like I'll have to try to watch this on my phone.

This was definitely a very atmospheric episode. I liked the focus on Bobby struggling to communicate with Sam and Dean. I see Ryan’s comment on the balancing act the episode had before it, and I agree that they pulled it off well. I made the comment on youtube making a reference to Vincent Schiavelli in Ghost. In watching Bobby struggle, I kept quoting Vincent’s character from Ghost by saying, “You've got to take all of your emotions. All your anger, all your love, all your hate. And push it, way down here into the pit of your stomach and then let it explode, like a reactor.” It is interesting the contrast between Bobby and Annie. Annie just wants to be done with everything and move on, whereas Bobby needs to stay behind because he needs to help his boys. I get what you mean by wanting more Bobby content, yet you’re not particularly wanting to go through the grieving process again. You can tell Dean is feeling similarly, hence his slightly off line of talking about it not being the natural order of things when, yes, Jess, as you observed, there’s been a few characters who have come back on this show. I think I'd be a mix of Sam and Dean in their reactions when they see Bobby again. Both of them did a great job of selling the emotion upon seeing their dad again. I actually don’t know offhand how this all wraps up. Beyond painful though it would doubtlessly be, I do kind of hope that if they do ultimately have to let Bobby go, that at least they’ll have a chance to say goodbye to their dad this time around. I think both of them could use that closure. This was a nice reaction, Jess, thank you.

That happened to me last week. Thought the issue was my end. Seems to be a Patreon gremlin.
