I had been hearing about this show for some time. Hadn’t really decided if I was going to watch it or not; I was on the fence about that. Then I see that you’re reacting to it, and I said, “Well, all right then. That settles it, I'm watching this.” I loved this first episode. I knew what you meant by saying that this was shot beautifully. You mentioned getting Alfred Hitchcock vibes from Guillermo del Toro's intro. I felt the same, saying, “Yeah, very Hitchcock. Very Rod Serling. It definitely feels like it’s going to have those kinds of vibes with this show.” Tim Blake Nelson is one of those really underrated character actors, and here in his performance as Nick, he went above and beyond in making the character massively unsympathetic. Likewise, I most enjoyed Sebastian Roché bringing a strong energy that was delightfully macabre. I’m with you on there should be blame placed on the guy running the storage facility for Emilia’s unit being sold. Nick was not incorrect in deflecting blame and saying that he’s not at fault for Emilia losing her unit, even so, lord almighty was he going out of his way to be a complete prick about it. There’s the most useful line from The Big Lebowski, which is, “You’re not wrong, Walter, you’re just an asshole!” That applies here. There was a lot in that lot. Like you observed, many red flags were ignored and/or overlooked. Also, as you observed, to Nick’s defense, there were certain red flags that he was not privy to, least of all, the information about the choppity chop-chopping of animal meat. Like I said, this first episode was most enjoyable. As to whether this show will do well for your channel, viewing number-wise, I’m most agreeable to continuing to share this show with you. Like with The Midnight Club, if that’s not in the cards, then I hope you enjoy it in your time for yourself. Particularly, the episode with a certain someone, which, by the way, took a second to realize who you were referring to. I said, “Someone Jess is looking for... oh, right! I did hear he was in this. Yeah, I know who you’re talking about.” Again, loved the episode, and loved your reaction, Jess.
