FBtW April Update (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing great! I'm here with an update on Far Beyond the World. Although I've made significant progress, I won't be able to release the newest chapter just yet. There's still a fair bit of work left to do, and I wouldn't want to release it in an unfinished state, especially after doing that with two previous chapters already.

The delay is mainly due to working on several aspects of the VN simultaneously alongside the development of the new chapter. I've made some exciting improvements to the main code, including an expanded Chapter Select tool and a Music Gallery. I'm also working on a Character Gallery that will let you access brief summaries of the characters you've met, with information expanding based on your progress in the story. These changes are crucial to merge the old chapters with the new ones in a single VN engine. I'm thrilled to announce that the sprite work for the first chapter has been remastered, bringing us closer to that goal. You can check out the changes to Chapter One in the build provided in the links below.

In terms of the storyline, chapters 14, 15, and 16 are in various stages of completion, and I'm hoping to release them all together within the next two weeks. One reason for the rescheduling was the decision to revamp the banquet scene in Chapter 14. I wanted to make it livelier and more detailed, adding depth to characters who were initially meant to be unsprited. Though this extra work has taken longer than anticipated, I believe it's worth it, as the scene is now much more vibrant and engaging. In fact, the sheer amount of assets created nearly doubles the VN library and will pay a major dividend moving forward.

I know that delays can be frustrating, but I'm confident that these enhancements will make for a more immersive and enjoyable reading experience. I want Far Beyond the World to be a VN we can all be proud of, and I'm committed to maintaining the high quality you've come to expect and appreciate. I'm grateful for your ongoing support and understanding as I work tirelessly to bring this project to life.
