Happy to finish this one out with you! I have a few thoughts on some of the things you mentioned: 1) I also wondered why ms. kang didn't go to america when everything was all said and done. My first thought was that maybe she felt if she went immediately she might worry her daughter and distract her from her studies bc she would still have to figure out how to work and adapt to a whole new country when she doesn't speak the language, which can be harder for your parents than for you as a kid who studied english and is still in school. I also wonder if the mom moving to america would somehow negatively effect the home stay program that her daughter was enrolled in and make it so that she couldn't live with that woman anymore but I'm not sure. 2) I can't tell if they're doing another season bc netflix hasn't said anything yet, they definitely set the tone in a way where they resolved the doctor's issues enough so you can see its getting handled. I don't think that specific storyline will get hammered out in any more detail BUT they obviously have a system going with dong-eun educating the inmates and both of them being seen as people the prisoners trust and rely on, and it's easy for them to get intel and enact revenge in other people's stead as we saw with the man who's sister was assaulted. So maybe they could expand on those smaller revenge plots and the system they have going in the jail 3) The Joo doctors are everything. I loved the dynamic of mother and son that was shown here. His mom said she thought he was more like his father at first because he was so kind-hearted and fought for what was right, but when he let her in she could tell he was more like her. They are both ride or die kind of people who will get their hands dirty to protect the ones they love - but good luck proving it lol. The mom showing up was unexpected but very in character and just made me appreciate their dynamic even more. She was always ready to protect her son and had no issues expanding that to protecting dong-eun even knowing he was doing crazy stuff to help her. And the fact that he was comfortable straight up telling her he was doing illegal things to help a woman he loved? I knew she was a good mother. No questions asked, no judgments, you clearly like this woman and I've done my research so now she's on my team too. Idk I just loved that energy from her 4) I think the show ending with the sky turning gray and their simple exchange of "I love you" was perfect. They're both traumatized and not a normal/perfect love story. They know better than anyone that life and love is not sunshine and rainbows, but it doesn't have to be. Their lives being gray and miserable for so long is what makes them understand and appreciate each other all the more. Also ties up the thing they had going on with the weather report tying in directly with what was going on plotwise throughout the entire story.

i'm months late but so happy i got to see this with you!! i'm so glad you enjoyed watching the show despite it being hard to watch at times, content-wise; i really loved how they fleshed out all the characters, it was written so well and i'm super happy they went into detail at the end to tie up all the loose ends and answer all the questions i had floating in my head. excited for the next drama!
