bro i don’t think you understand how much i enjoy hearing your takes on music, especially stuff like this. i usually don’t look at the lyrics for a while so i just leave them up to interpretation and never really dive into it. you though !!!! you give us extremely interesting thought pieces on a certain bar or a song as whole and it kind of opens my third eye. if i think of something a certain way, you say something that’ll open a whole knew idea on what he’s talking about so i truly enjoy watching your reviews and i’m so glad you don’t give halfassed explanations/reactions !!!!! i appreciate you being soooo genuine all the time

i had no idea that dear my friend was about something so sad i could tell it was a sad song by the name of course but that legitimately made me cry so hard

yeah although it's not explicitly said it's heavily implied that dear my friend is about a lost friendship because of drugs. every single translator i've seen has had this take, unfortunately.
