This week with a little help, I made some final adjustments to the charm system that I think will work out both lore and gameplay wise.
I really liked the idea of having to have Meridiana masturbate a little before she could charm enemies. It let to a good lore reason why charmed enemies would try to have sex with her. (Her soliciting sex from dirty monsters never really fit the character, and that boob shake was always temporary).
The idea of them taking advantage of when she overwhelms herself fits perfectly, so I really wanted to keep that in.
I also wanted to have charm to be more like her taking advantage of enemies being mood(them being horny) to sway them to her will. The cloud idea was built on this, in that once they were horny, they were easy to sway.
So the new system uses these ideas. Meridiana builds up her own sexual energy, then with an ability, transfers that to an enemy. This will put them into a trance like state where if she acts quickly (plenty of time, its set for like a minute right now), she can command enemies to do what she says.
It will require the player to charge up that energy before hand, and it will slowly deplete over time. (Very slowly, but it will deplete). This will allow her to use it at any time, even it battle, but not enough to overwhelm every single enemy.
Its also a natural ability, which I have tied to Q or one of the face buttons on a controller, so this should help with issues people had with E being used for too many things.
You can see in the video above how everything works. I have added a sexual energy/horniness bar, and so you know how much charge you have. I might tie some other abilities to that resource in the future, we'll see what comes up.
There are a few more tweaks I want to make animation and fx wise, and once I do that, I'll build out another test to get some more feedback.
