September 1st Weekly Update (Patreon)

I worked on a variety of stuff this week.  

First, I took some time and went back and fixed the other costume so that it works better in game.  
Unreal Engine changed cloth simulations a bit, and that ended up making the dress simulation very heavy.  On top of that, it never say right on the character.  
I went in and made some adjustments, fixed the slowdown issues, and made it sit better and move better.  While it can certainly still be improved, its to a point where its workable, so we can have multiple costumes in game officially again.

I've wanted enemies to have a little more defense, so I've started building their block animations.  This week I've gotten the animations for the bird goblin done.   Not every enemy will be able to block mind you.

I've also gone and done some more research and learning around AI, as I'd like to refine the enemies AI a bit, and make their behaviour more varied.  I've already learned of some stuff that will be super useful, as well as some optimizations.  
This will be kinda slow though, as I don't want to stop what I'm doing with the level design completely just to focus on this.


I was also feeling a bit burned out, so I started working on anther character.  Just a common farmhand type guy.  I do want to stretch my character designs a bit, and see how varied I can get while still making the characters appealing.  There might be some misses and some dissonance along the way.

I'm also tweaking other things here and there, and have a few things I'm gonna try to surprise you with.

I have a family member who was recently hospitalized (He's in the ICU, but recovering) with a really bad bacterial infection in his lungs from some bad weed vape.   (Dank Vape)  I'm certainly not gonna preach about not smoking pot or doing drugs.  But please, if you're gonna use this product, get it from someone reputable, like a dispensary, or just enjoy your weeds in more traditional formats like smoking or edibles.   He was very close to dying, and even though he's recovering now, his lungs are likely permanently damaged.
