This week I was finally able to start nailing down the new goblin character I wanted to add, so I got a lot of his modelling done.   I eventually want to do a little more with this dude, use him as a base to make several different looking dudes, but for now he'll do.

The HobGoblin base model dude:

In this world, goblins are obnoxious more then they are vicious.  They are more likely to steal some chickens from a farmer, then run off laughing then they are to attack or hurt anyone.  They're a small, stupid, cowardly lot.  Unless someone/something gets them organized.  If someone starts bossing them around, then they get mean.

When the regular goblins get too worked up and angry, they will eventually turn into hobgoblins.   Hobgoblins are bigger, smarter, and meaner then most normal goblins.  Groups of hobgoblins are very dangerous, and a camp of them usually needs to be quickly destroyed.

Besides working on this guy, there have recently been some free assets released on the Unreal marketplace that might work really well as placeholders, so that I can start to build a village hub.  So I spent some time checking those out as well.  They certainly won't be final, but they aren't too far off stylistically to work temporarily.

(This is a sample environment that comes with the asset pack)

Ha! The placeholders do look almost in place. What are the stylistic differences between the marketplace models and Meridiana's world? What looks off to you in these default models?

They don't have much roughness and metallic variation on some of them, and don't quite match the style of homes I'd like to see in her world.
