April 2022 Sketchbook (Patreon)

Another batch of thumbnails, studies, experiments and doodles! I've been tinkering with my brushes a lot this month, trying to find a workflow that feels good and looks the way I want it to by the end. I think I'm getting there!

I wanna mention the Rei on the last page - she's an interpretation of Rei Trois from Evangelion: Anima. Nearly being consumed by Armaros leaves her with two-tone black-and-blue hair. I thought that was a sick look so I ended up using it as an excuse to do more workflow experimenting. I haven't tried to draw something I saw in a novel in a long time, and it made me happy to finally accomplish that, and I love how her hair came out.
