99 DAILIES ON THE WALL... (Patreon)

HELLO,

I have officially reached 99 daily drawings, everyone! Tomorrow marks the 100th! What sort of special thing will I do for that?

I'll end them.

I will discontinue the daily drawing routine. This post is to address that and the future of the content I create. There will be an F.A.Q. about this at the end of the post. But first let me list the reasons for how the dailies even started:

1. Momentum - "An artist in motion STAYS in motion!"

2. Building discipline.

3. An outlet for backed up, smaller ideas which weren't seeing the light of day at all.

4. Proof of concept that I can create regular content besides commissions.

5. Provide content for my Patreon regularly in order to move to a monthly plan.

It was meant to last for a month, instead it exceeded expectations. They began as "daily doodles" but the tendency was for them to become more elaborate. All of them became colored with some degree of shading. A select few were very elaborate, to the point I'd call them fully fleshed out images. Hence why they got renamed to "daily drawings".

It has helped, all of the 5 goals were achieved. But the past week in particular I encountered the issues that stem with creating mandatory uploads each day. For instance a lot of them would've benefited from being delayed for the next day for refinement. Or I'd do one half-way and feel like I can't finish it. But stopping there means I'd have to do another from scratch and the time spent working - wasted.

As much as they have helped, I no longer feel I'm getting as much benefit from them as before.

To address the most common questions that come to mine (and feel free to drop comments if you have any concerns and questions yourself):

DOES THIS MEAN YOU WON'T CREATE CONTENT FOR THE PATREON?

Negative. I shall keep this momentum and still create personal content, except it won't be an upload every day. Probably an upload every other day or less, if I've decided to dedicate to a more highly rendered piece (lower quality dailies eat up time which could go into a larger project).

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR THE DAILY DRAWING REWARD TIER?

It's reworded but it's going to be exactly the same. It's not changed at all.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE PATREON POLL?

Polls will remain being a thing. The Weekly themed ones were me going in strong with the polls, I'll be changing up the format.

It was an absolutely wild ride. Doing these alongside commissions, trades and the occasional personal art that didn't even fit in the daily format. Looking back at the first ten dailies it really feels like a lifetime ago. Over three months.
