Hello everyone! Apologies for going radio silent for a while there, I sort of had a kinda significant mental health spiral last weekend and to make a long story short I am starting a new prescription today. Uh. The Bioshifter chapter will still hopefully be out later today, but if it's not then I apologize in advance.

Anyway uh. Yep. I'm sure my mental health problems are all a huge surprise to you given the sort of content I produce and the inconsistency with which I produce it, but I figure when that gets in the way you all deserve to at least get a heads-up. Thanks for supporting me everyone, and here's hoping this helps.

I hope you find them helpful. It's totally understandable if you can't upload cosistently.

I've been on anti-depressants since age 6, and I would credit them with saving my life because even if I had lived without them, my quality of life would have been miserable. That said, they're very finnicky and finding what works well for you can often be a long endeavor. A lot of people try one and then go "Nope, it didn't work" and then they give up. Unfortunately, that's not how it works. Everyone's body chemistry is different and what works for others may not work for you at all or could have serious side effects you can't live with. My advice is to stick with it. If it doesn't do anything, try a higher dosage. If it still doesn't work, try another medication. If something partially works but doesn't fully work even at a high dosage, try a second medication alongside it (there are several that work well especially in conjunction with others, such as Wellbutrin and Lithium). There are some genetic tests these days that can speed up this process a little bit by suggesting what medications are most compatible with your genetics. Worth asking your psych about if they didn't mention this already, and your first medication doesn't happen to be a winner. I ended up on Effexor XR and Wellbutrin XL (both at high dosages), but the journey to get there took almost 2 years and had me trial nearly 20 medications. It's a long and agonizing process that is somewhat disruptive to your life since your emotional state is going to be all over the place, even if you go slowly (and any good doctor will). Still, I would do it again in a heartbeat. It's so worth it when you find something that works.
