By the end of the year, i reckon it is projected to reach $37.5 trillion. 

4% interest on debt, is $1.5 trillion, which is enough could cover major expenses such as defense and Social Security. 

However, with deficits exceeding $2 trillion, and we are not in a recession or major war, things could get a lot worse real fast. 

The alarming issue is the lack of buyers for the debt. Today's 20-year auction was disastrous.
