Shout out to NO CRIMEZ for this chain.

But the truth is we all need to be aware of how the scammers operate.  I WILL NEVER REACH OUT ONE ON ONE and I WILL NEVER ASK FOR ANYTHING

Step 1: Identifying Red Flags

  1. Spelling and grammar errors in communications: Scammers often make spelling and grammar mistakes in their messages, emails, or other forms of communication. This can be an early warning sign that something is not right.
  2. Suspicious or overly friendly behavior: Scammers may try to establish a false sense of trust by being overly friendly or pretending to have a personal interest in you. Be wary of anyone who seems too eager to get close to you without a legitimate reason.
  3. Requests for money or personal information: One of the main goals of scammers is to obtain your money or sensitive personal information. Be cautious of any unsolicited requests for money or personal details, especially if they come from someone you do not know well.

Step 2: Understanding the Tactics Scammers Use

Scammers typically follow a series of steps to gain your trust and manipulate you into giving them what they want. These steps may include:

  1. Establishing a false sense of trust: Scammers often use various techniques to make you feel comfortable and trusting, such as pretending to be someone you know or share common interests with.
  2. Creating a sense of urgency: Scammers may try to pressure you into making a decision quickly by creating a sense of urgency. They might claim that a limited-time offer is about to expire or that you need to act immediately to avoid a negative consequence.
  3. Offering false promises: Scammers often make grandiose promises of wealth or other benefits to entice you into giving them what they want. Be wary of any promises that seem too good to be true, as they likely are.

Step 3: Best Practices for Staying Safe

  1. Be cautious of unsolicited communications: Be wary of any messages or requests from people you do not know or trust.  DON'T CLICK ON ANYTHING ANYWHERE!
  2. Verify the identity of the person: If you are unsure about the identity of the person you are communicating with, try to verify their identity through a simple face time call - THEY WILL NEVER ACCEPT IT
  3. Never share personal information or money: Never share your personal information or money with anyone PERIOD!
  4. Report suspicious activity: BLOCK AND REPORT

Every day, a smart person gets scammed in one way or another.  As you are now your own bank, you need security and awareness like you are!
