Hey Team

With the new year around the corner, and the future being bright as far as our assets are concerned, we need to focus on health. Here are some health tips for a longer, healthier life. By the way I am not preaching and real bad at some of these like sleep etc.

PS Claire and Dr Chewie asked me to throw something together - so thank you for the idea and also pls add your ideas below.

  • #1 Exercise Regularly: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise weekly. This enhances heart health, mental wellness, and immunity.
  • #2 Eat Healthily: Embrace a plant-based diet, like the Mediterranean diet, minimizing processed meats and refined carbs. Practice portion control and consider intermittent fasting. Old rule of mine is never eat anything with more than 4 ingredients.
  • #3 Moderate Drinking and ZERO Smoking: Avoid smoking completely and limit alcohol consumption. Smoking can significantly reduce life expectancy, and the benefits of moderate drinking are uncertain.
  • #4 Get Enough Sleep: Strive for at least 5 hours of sleep nightly. Some say 8. As I get older I sleep a lot less. Implement a regular sleep schedule and create a tech-free bedroom environment. I told ya I totally fail at this as I monitor markets during the nite. I will try get better in 2024.
  • #5 Maintain Strong Relationships: Cultivate and sustain social connections, crucial for happiness and longevity, throughout all stages of life. Avoid all toxic relationships even if they are family members.  If they don't add value to your life - skip it.
  • #6 Challenge Your Brain: Engage in activities that stimulate your brain, like learning new languages, traveling, or acquiring new skills. I never stop reading. I never stop learning. I never stop pushing myself, creating new ideas and models.
  • #7 Manage Stress: Address chronic stress, which can lead to various health problems, through exercise, meditation, yoga, or professional help if needed. Work for me is fun so it is not stressful.
  • #8 Nurture a Healthy Gut Microbiome: Improve gut health by incorporating probiotics and prebiotics from fermented foods and fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, and grains. We are our gut. Sounds dumb but so true. Nurture it to avoid chronic illness.
  • #9 Monitor Vitamin and Mineral Levels: Regularly check and manage your vitamin and mineral levels, possibly supplementing as needed, especially with vitamins D and B12, iron, and calcium.
  • #10 Listen to Your Body: Be attentive to your body's signals, such as fatigue, stress, or discomfort, pain, and take appropriate action, whether it's rest, medical consultation, or lifestyle adjustments.

Blood tests regularly….this is the only thing that tells the full story and can catch things when they are small. No way around it.
